Fairly new to designer bags...my first was from Longchamp about 4 years ago. Then more Longchamps, a couple of Coach, Furla, etc. I think I have a mild addiction now. Haven't dared on a premier designer yet, but I think there's no going back at this point. Love the quality & beauty of designer bags! :D

I love hearing about other people's love for bags, and I wanted to share how I got started!

Like many others, I started with Coach and was so thrilled to have my first bag! I was in 7th grade and I started to see more and more bags around me. I remember so many of my friends were getting a bag, but I had never owned a bag before. I remember going to the mall and going into the Coach store and falling in love. I told my mom how much I LOVED their bags and wanted one so bad. I didn't leave the store with a bag that day, but a couple weeks later my mom surprised my sister and I with the Coach Demi Pouch and that truly began my obsession with bags. Here she is, I will never get rid of this bag, I simply adore her:

What about you, what was your first designer handbag?

^^^ This was my exact first designer bag :smile1: Coach was very popular when I was younger... still is.

I bought Kate Spade when the company first started - a friend was involved with the company very early on, so it was a gesture of support to have a few to sport around. One sample bag was my fave. Many years later I ran into said friend while I was carrying the first sample piece - she couldn't believe I was carrying it still, as it really was a sample, not perfectly finished! So. After I received a fab Celine as a gift. It's been a slippery slope through LV/Bal/Fendi/Celine ever since. But I still cherish the memory that beat up little KS, even if I would still be forbidden to carry it!

Believe I'm a bit older than majority of your readers, but will share my story nonetheless. It was the late 1980's and everywhere I looked, smartly dressed women wore Gucci canvas bags with leather trim. They were either brown or navy blue. I couldn't take it any longer and had to buy one of each color. They were about $150 each and I thought I was being so extravagant that I should be ashamed.
I wish I would have kept them but gave them to charity some years later. I then switched to Ferragamo because I wore their heels and again in those days, one wanted accessories to match.

In the early 1990's I went to New York and everywhere I looked Chanel bags were hanging from well dressed shoulders. Thus I began my collection-the first one was a Black calf skin shoulder bag which I still have. It had a price tag of $1070 but I received a 20% discount to open up a charge account with that store. I've purchased 7 since then, including wallets, business card holder, cosmetic bag, etc.
This year I have wandered over to Louis Vuitton.
I sent pictures of some Chanels via my twitter account under name PJ Gambler with a Dalmatian photo!
