Last fall I flew to Paris from Boston simply to buy Louis Vuitton at a savings. I stayed only one night and spent $$$$, but I estimate that I saved almost $2,000 over what I would have (eventually) paid here, even given the price of the ticket/hotel. Plus, I felt vaguely like James Bond.![]()
waaaa.. For what bag?Sold 95% of my designer bags. What a regret. I miss my YSL Muse and many more.
That is exactally what I'm in the process of doingI sold as much stuff on eBay as I could find to get sufficient funds for my Daria Hobo.
YEP, talk up a bag that is ridiculously higher in price that you dont even want and he will always go for the cheaper bag/item. This is not a new tactic but quite effective, my mom has been known to do crap like that for handbags, appliances, automobiles and vacations. This post was my first LOL of the day!I talk about buying bags all the time to the point where my husband just caves! Step 1 of the plan is talking about the appreciation and investment of said bag and how I might as well buy it. Step 2 of the plan is talking about cheaper bags aren't as cute, functional, or quality. Step 3 is asking him "should I get this bag or another (more expensive/out-of-budget one)? I do this for a few days. Step 4 is complaining about my current purse. Step 5 is saying how I can't find the purse pre-loved or from a reliable vendor on ebay. Step 6: repeat.
It worked and continually works.
purposefully overdrew my bank account
BUUUUUUUUUUT it paid off, it was for THREE random Rebecca Minkoff 'Loveletter' bags at Nordstrom Rack last year for 250.00 each, i kept one and sold the other two for 500.00 each within days![]()
This was my reply to this post in 2013.
2016, as of over a week ago: Not my most expensive bag purchase at all, but most desperate. I saw that Gilt had one A.L.C. iridescent Paloma bag left (for like $175!!!!) and it was almost 4 AM. There's only two Palomas I've ever wanted, but I wasn't spending 549.00 on some tiny crossbody I'd use a few times a year. This was a big f------ deal. My bank account had under $100 in it and I don't have major credit cards [in my name] anymore. But I had two checks, one of which was pretty hefty, and $300 cash I got for my birthday. Yes, I scrambled around my room to find my funds, put on a pair of PJ shorts, and ran out to my car and drove to my bank to use the drive through ATM - something I NEVER do after dark for safety reasons, obvs - and deposited everything. Parked the car, opened the Gilt app, and ordered my cute lil bag. Like a boss.

I know YOUR pain!!! I basically SOLD everything (kept my first lux bag ever though) and NOW I'm trying to build it back up! It's HARD and so depressing! I sometimes think "where has my cornflower blue twiggy gone?" I hope it's ok and I hope it's having a good life. I miss your cornflower twiggy! AND I miss Turq 05 First too... SIGH... such is lifeBUT hey they all funded my OE (overseas experience for 4 and a bit years) so win win, right? LOL AND now I think I'm buying smarter! And not just buying for the sake of buying.
SORRY SO OFF TOPIC! SORRY!!!
A total win/win. I am rebuilding my collection as well. This time around I am a bit smarter about my purchases. I know what I like and don't like!
