What's the craziest thing you've done to be able to afford the bag you wanted?

Hunted down a rare bag for a year and when Gucci had their May sale it appeared/disappeared/appeared. I called Gucci, they had one left in the entire company and did I want it? It was half off and I did a phone sale on the spot. I got the $3000 bag for $1500. I was already on bag probation with my husband and he came home in the middle of the phone sale - I think I had a panic attack. But it was the last bag on my wish list, so I am whole.

I haven't had the desire for a new bag since this happened.

I would say sacrificing going out to party every weekend, shopping (buying clothes & shoes I don't need, lol), not eating at expensive and fancy restaurants, cooking my lunches for work rather than eating out, basically saving.. lol

I can relate to this! I am perfectly fine with driving a vehicle that gets me from point A-B. I don't care for luxury vehicles. But handbags.. :graucho:
I understand giving up the finer things in life, but not your ride! Alot of money is put into cars, unless your water pump goes out and you can afford to buy a new one or every time it breaks down! You'll spend more money fixing and repairing a cheep junker then you would a good running one! I wouldn't sell out my cat for a purse, I've had it Sinice 06 have done all the work on it, it has over 250 thousand miles on it and the motor runs better every year, smogs cleaner every year, gets me beyond do a & b !

I see you are rich and you are a free spirit! Capitalizing random words and all.
LMAO...priceless :roflmfao:

Lol, the timing couldn't be worse...why do the things you don't want to happen, always happen anyway? It's like the world likes to laugh at a shopaholic's expense every time :graucho:
In 2009, I wanted to have a LV shoulder bag which was discontinued. I made a phone call to LV stores all over the world and found the last last one which was in Dublin, Ireland.
I literally reserved the bag and bought a flight ticket straight away to headed into Dublin.
I'm still in love with this LV handbag.
:)
WOW! Now that is what I call dedication...a love like that will remain eternal!

It sounds easy, but it takes so much consistent commitment to overhaul your regular financial routine, and go on a 'spending freeze'. Bravo to being able to 'trim the fat' on your spending to a leaner amount, so you were able to get what you ultimately wanted!

I rarely ever go out to eat and don't spend much on partying anymore, but I definitely struggle with minimizing shopping, and I refuse to eliminate my wine budget :p

Oh, and the liberating frisson given by knowing you can simply scatter punctuation in your sentence like coins amongst the poor or omitting full stops like driving your Mustang through a red light when the oncoming car is some beaten - up jalopy. How wonderful for you!!! 😂😂😂😂
