Whats the best bag for work?

I am in the market for a new work bag. I own a Celine Luggage but it’s too heavy to carry to work so I have been using a Longchamp. I’m considering a NF and after much deliberation believe I’ve decided on the NF GM in Mono. But before I do, I want to run this by all the experts here.

I carry my work laptop nearly daily, along with a notebook or two, glasses, a water bottle, thermal for my morning smoothie, and lunch. I also travel for work every other month and thought it would work for that too.

Knowing all this... which bag would you recommend for me? Are there any other LV styles that would work?

This is a great question, and I'm in the same boat as you. I was looking at Mulberry Bayswater bags, but wanted to be sure that was the right bag.
I am also looking at the LV PORTE-DOCUMENTS VOYAGE.
I need a workhorse bag, but also something that looks professional and sleek. Can't wait to read people's input.

My fear with the Mulberry is that it would be too heavy once I added my laptop to it. The Porte-Documents is a beautiful bag but I would need a seperate bag to bring my smoothie, lunch, etc... with me. It may sound silly but I'd like to help consolodate how many bags I carry into work each day.

Proud NF addict here! It is my daily workhorse bag (purse, not a work bag) and I shlep a lot of stuff with me daily. I have read online it can hold up to 200 pounds, but haven’t been able to find any facts or research behind this claim. But I don’t doubt it! My MM is easily 10lbs+ every day and going just fine. If you’re carrying a laptop I’d get the GM, as the MM is too small for my 13” MacBook to fit all the way inside. I have to put it in vertically and some of the laptop must hang out which affects the handle functionality. Handles are thin, so I’ve added mcraft leather handle covers to make them more comfortable when heavy and to protect the vachetta. I’d definitely recommend an organizer or at the very least a base shaper if used the way you describe. When I get a new job I’m going to buy a NF MM in epi to be my actual work tote for laptop and files and other work things. One downside is it’s an open bag so not as secure from things falling out, weather, or snoops haha. I just wish it had feet.

You can't go wrong with a Neverfull ! I use a zip organizer type pouch then clip it on the D-ring to hold things securely in the bag that I don't want to fall out - wallet, keys, etc. I also lay a scarf over the top so as not to have everything exposed, and I can also use the scarf if it is chilly. Would also hold laptop and other items. To me it is really a comfy bag to carry. FYI - I believe the Epi line, while beautiful, is a tad heavier than Monogram or Damier.

Good luck deciding !

Thank you both for the very thorough replies. The NF seems like it's the right direction. I just want to make sure I am considering all the possibilites and don't make a mistake. I hate buying bags I end up not using.

I just thought about another one that I have been trying to find opinions on - it is called the "All-In" tote (LV). There is a club house on this bag, but it hasn't had many updates on it. It came out in October, and it is found in the Travel section on the LB website. Some referred it to the Neverfull with a zipper. The handles are flatter, and wider. It also can be folded. I'm really interested in this as it has a zipper. There are 2 sizes. I would like to go and look at this next time I am around an LV store.

I understand, I also like to consolidate.

NF - have had mine for 10 years and it’s gone through the ringer and it’s still working for me!! Loved it for work and with kids. Personal and business. Just a great bag all around. I have the MM size. GM was too large for my frame. I’m 5’5 and 140lbs.

I looked at the All-in Tote. It looks much larger than the NF and more of a travel bag to me.

Neverfull in epi leather - I love it so much, I have 3 colors!

Love the epi leather but it adds weight... my biggest concern and why I am soley considering canvas bags this time around.

10 Years!?!? That is great to hear! I looked at both the MM and GM in person. I agree the GM is a bit large for me too being that I am about 5'2". But the MM is too similar in size to my Longchamp which requires me to carry an extra bag for my lunch. Really wish they had a size inbetween.

I guess that's the main reason why I'm looking to see if there any other bags that could work for my purpose that I haven't considered.

If you need to carry as much as you describe then I would get something very light and zipped instead (like a nylon Longchamp). Instead of the GM I might even say get the NF MM (also ok for travel) and shlep another bag/purse with it to work so one bag is not so weighed down. I think most working (office) women end up carrying 2 bags, or a workbag/briefcase + a purse of some sort. I'd opt for two smaller bags that hold equal amounts instead of one gigantic bag that has to hold everything (including your drinks and lunch which could spill and etc.). I posted in another thread that I use a large Kipling bag for work. Not everything has to be designer/expensive to be functional. I tried a NF for work, it was a complete fail for me. I have to carry a lot too, so the nylon keeps it very lightweight. Hope this make sense.

Iéna MM in DE (my fave), mono, or azur :-) Check out the very thorough videos of JustJennifer on You Tube for size, weight, capacity, features, and functionality as an everyday, work, and travel bag. They are an excellent guide!
