"What was I thinking?" Bag purchases you regret...

My handle on TPF is Sparkletastic. So you know I like sparkle and style. But, I'd like to think I'm not tacky. (gosh, I hope I'm not tacky!)

Well (sigh) I think I didn't help my "I'm not tacky" cause when I bought this handbag. Coach Red Poppy Spotlight Sequin Satchel. What in the ham sandwich was I thinking??? I actually never wore this bag. I just liked to see it glimmering in my closet (I needed meds).

I got out of this bag with a profit of about 30%. I think they are becoming collectibles.😱

Wow that bag is very bright! I think the right person would wear that everyday. That person isn't me though. But it a nice bag.

I hope wallets count in this thread. I bought an Alexander Wang Fumo continental wallet in red. I saw on pf someone mentioned the term 'sale goggles', and I think that's exactly the reason for this purchase. I loved it for the first few days, but then I realized it's way too gigantic to be practical.

Lv speedy de 25 - too small and that was back then with no kids
Coach impulses x2
Burberry knightsbridge check pochette impulse - i hate the pattern honestly

Wish I bought H early and didnt spend 7 years with Chanel. Still my first love but H is addictive.

I'm going to add any bag I've bought as an interim option to close a wardrobe gap while I hunted for the right bag. Here are a few recent examples.

#1: I bought a no name caramel faux leather bag from Windsor while shopping with my daughter. What in the unholy ham sandwich was I thinking? While I respect anyone's right to do so, I don't wear fake leather bags. I've never worn this bag and can't offload it on eBay. Luckily it was cheap...as it should have been. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

I actually like the look of this bag. If I could find out what it is a knock of of, I'd buy the original.

# 2: I wear a lot of white gold and need a silver (non evening) handbag. So I bought this Kate Spade Gold Coast Margot. I have really tried to be content with this bag as I search for the ever elusive silver handbag of my dreams. But, despite my efforts, I have an unreasonable and irrational hatred for this bag. Intellectually I know it's probably cute. But, every time I see it in my closet I want to shoot it.

#3: This last bag is actually a keeper but not as expected. I needed a black leather SHW casual bag so I bought this Michael Kors Leigh. Let me say this bag is DURABLE. I've mistreated this bag in every way possible and it looks new. I throw it down on the floor of beer & peanut shell laden baseball stadiums and it wipes up to look pristine!

I've "replaced" this bag with a new Prada calf leather top handle / crossbody bag and pre-loved Chanel Ultimate Soft. I ADORE my 2 new bags but this MK bag has earned my respect and will stay in my closet for times I need a bag with both style and grit.

BUT!!! That all being said, no more "interim" bags. I just need to be more creative with my current handbags until I find the perfect new handbag.

The faux leather bag actually looks really nice! Perhaps instead of focusing on the faux leather fact perhaps think of it as any other non-leather bag like canvas or something. I'd use this bag, faux leather or not.

What you said makes perfect sense. But my brain can't make it happen. You know how everyone has their weird idiosyncrasies? I think I saw my mom carry too many horrible PU bags so now they make me get the yuck face no matter how nice thy may look. 😖

That's good to know! I thought the vachetta straps, etc. were prone to spotting when wet. I use my de often when it rains, but have never taken any mono out in rainy weather.

I could not say for sure, best to check with the LV experts in their forum, but I use all my bags rain or shine, I live in London for heavens sake, it rains all the time...
