YSL Muse 2 - ended up selling it. I had wanted one so badly but I just didn't love it when I used it. I need to have easier access - I'm in my bags too often during the day.

Kate Spade Beau bag - way too delicate (smooth leather, shows all marks quickly) and too difficult to carry. Came with a crossbody strap but it was even MORE awkward to carry that way! Got it on final sale from KS.com, and it had a mark on the bow right out of the box and I was so disappointed. I tried to suck it up since I knew I couldn't return it (even though the mark soured me, I've read enough stories to know that final sale is final sale) but couldn't. Sold it at a loss but GOOD RIDDANCE.

The only bag purchases I regret are the ones I didn't made...about 10 years ago a vintage Hermes Kelly, black, perfect condition $1100, why?!?! Because it was a store I hadn't been in before and couldn't decide on the fly. I went home did research and found out the store was totally legit, by the time I called back, the very next morning, it was gone. A large silverish Gucci tote at Woodbury for $500, my thinking was did I need to spend $500 on a tote I'd probably use most for the gym. Heck yes, you know what the cost per wear would be by now since that was about 12 years ago?? And last but not least a Fendi du jour, can't even repeat the price, it was the large one so the size was not ideal for me, but the price!! I def would of used it for something. This last one just happened a couple months ago so I'm not over it yet, lol. My issue was, with all of them, they were final sale. I don't shop well when I can't return. Have to get over that!

I regret buying my Mulberry oversized Alexa. Got it during the Net-a-Porter sale for $1100. A great price for the oversize but I should've held out for the regular Alexa. And wouldn't you know it, that dang Alexa went on sale a few weeks later when I had already started using my Oversized one. It's just too big (weird for me to say given i love BIG bags) but mainly it's hard to get in and out of. The flap is heavy and the magnet clasp is so strong. I feel like I'm going to rip the leather. Also the straps are too long for me to carry crossbody. At it's shortest, it hits me almost at my knees. Why?!

This is my issue. You'll probably have a heart attack when I tell you my mistake. I came across an authentic Chanel Jumbo Flap marked at $399.99 in black quilted lambskin at a consignment shop. I waited, and while waiting for authentication (which came back as a resounding thumbs up), it sold. I literally have not been able to convince myself that I will be okay, even years later.

OMG. Yeah that would be killing me too. I need to visit more consignment shops!
A few around here have Chanel but never the ones I want and not for $400..
I got an authentic Gucci hobo for $50 at one of those shops. Sheer stroke of luck. Lady came to consign it and I offered to take it off her hands directly. She shrugged and said $50? Guess she didnt need the money. Yes it was real. Gucci isnt really my thing so I sold it after wearing it for a couple months for much more than $50.

Oh I feel your pain! I thought I was an idiot for passing on Chanel reissues/classic flap when they were 1/3 of what the are now but seriously, you win with the Kelly... And Gucci... And Fendi since you won't even 'fess up to it. Thank you for sharing :hugs: hopefully these sacrifices get you some good hunting karma for the future!

That's like sighting a unicorn! :amazed:

Just out if curiosity, did these stores have a return policy?

Burberry Knight bag that was all over the ads a few years ago...gorgeous bag and incredibly well made, with some amazingly artistic details, but that thing weighed 10lbs. It was crazy. I ended up selling it for a huge loss on eBay.
PS1 in blue suede....became way too "hot" :P

I don't necessarily regret, but these styles didn't work for me, Burberry hobo (found out that I couldn't do single straps), Chanel PST, Westminster, anything cute like Dior girly and cheaper leather bags like BCBG. Still debating whether Pashli was a good purchase or not (i carry it often, love the look and leather, but don't find it user friendly:)

OMG a Chanel for $399.99, I love that you remember the price to the penny. There must be a support group for people like us somewhere! The worst part about the Fendi, besides the price and let's just say it was in the hundreds not the thousands, was that it was so recent. Hello?!? eBay?!? How dumb am I? Even if I changed my mind I could of sold it for a minuet for what I paid for it and probably could of made a profit. Ugh. All the junk that I waste money on...ok, it's too early in the day to get myself worked up. My new thought when I can't make up my mind is eBay. I've never sold, or bought anything on it, too scary, but I can learn!

I'm borrowing this topic from an old Chanel thread.

We all adore our handbags and covet ones we don't yet own. But sometimes, despite all our research and best intentions, we purchase a bag that is a huge mistake. Perhaps it doesn't fit your lifestyle, it isn't as cute as you thought it would be or it gave you a spending hangover.

Use this thread to vent about your mistakes and warn others. What handbag do you regret buying and why? PLEASE add pictures!

I'll start. The biggest bag horror I ever had was the Valentino Pink Lacca Dome Bow Handbag. I drooled over this bag every time I saw it online. I love pink, I love bows, I love patent, I love satchels. This seemed like my dream bag.

When I bought it I was initially thrilled. But, I quickly started hating it. The fabric wrinkled terribly making it look tired and cheap. And, my brain stopped seeing it as gorgeous femininity and began seeing it as infantile and gaudy in less than a couple months!

I was lucky that I bought this pre-owned and sold it (after 9 long months on eBay) for only a $100 loss. Tacky, poor quality...just bad.

I went to Barney's set on buying a black Givenchy Antigona since I wanted a nice black bag that I could carry on my shoulder or the crook of my arm. I ended up walking out with a black Celine Mini Luggage in drummed leather. The SA told me it was the best-selling bag in the department and I've always loved the Mini Luggage and Phantom. It was a spur of the moment decision.

Even though I love the look of the mini luggage, I ended up regretting my decision and selling the bag for the following reasons:

1. It was really heavy...after carrying it around for a day I realized it was too heavy for daily use.
2. It was too big for what I carried. I had a LOT of empty space in the bag.

At the time I really just wanted a bag I could use daily and not have to baby. I wanted it to be a classic, have room for my things, be low maintenance, and not too noticeable (definitely had a lot of people eye my large Celine. I think the fact that I'm really young and carrying the bag had to do with it).

Ended up with a black Balenciaga city and have been loving it so far! Would love to get the Celine later on in life when I have more to carry...and have bigger muscles to handle the weight haha. It's definitely a gorgeous bag, just not for me right now.

Alexander Wang Rocco. Super, SUPER heavy. Between the weight of the studs and adding minor items like a makeup bag and a wallet, one of the strap connectors ripped when I used it daily for about a month. I love the look, but, if I could go back and not purchase it, I would.

Balenciaga First. The was my "first" Bal long ago and I thought it would be perfect for day-to-day running around. However, it's just way too small, barely holds anything and is too boho for using as a small purse/clutch at formal events.

Balenciaga giant hardware Work. TOO freaking big & heavy! I bought it because of the color, and it was the only style left in that color directly from Balenciaga. I've finally decided to sell it because it's just been sitting around here for years. I just submitted it to Fashionphile & Yoogi's and got really low buyout quotes.
