"What was I thinking?" Bag purchases you regret...

I regret ever having bought suede bags. Since I live in a country where it rains and snows quite a bit, I rarely dare to take my suede bags outside. So as lovely as they are, I'm never buying another.

any bag I have regretted buying, I have sold since, and I know now that several brands don't work for me, although I like them on others, and that my bags always need a little something, too plain and I am bored. it helps because I know what to stay clear off

Juicy Couture bags. what was i thinking! they're heavy and way too high school esque. thankfully I was able to sell them.

I'm constantly on a hunt for the perfect dSLR bag since I'm also a avid photographer (I shoot weddings and events). My regrets: Kelly Moore camera bags - they're great and stylish for my dSLR but my Mimi satchel is way too heavy, hangs weird crossbody and overpowers my petite frame. I also have a Kelly Moore Posey 2 bag, the bag just sits very oddly. I need to get rid of these and maybe even turn one of my other bags into a camera bag.

I don't think I have any that turned into a "what were you thinking", but the regrets I've had is when I've bought bags to fill a certain niche (like I want a bag in beige or dark brown), but I just didn't love them. So later when I found a bag I love that suited that role, I then never used the one that was bought only because I was looking for a beige bag. But all those have been given to family & friends.

Before I caught the designer bug, I bought a little black Dooney on an impulse. I hate the closure, I hate the lining and it is too small. Then, I had an encounter with Dooney's customer service and I will never buy another again. It's sitting in its dust bag in my closet probably never to be heard from again. I learned my lesson about silly impulses and I'm currently saving for a LV/Chanel orgy in December.

Last time I posted in this thread was two and a bit years ago and I'm sad to say I have more handbag regrets since then.

LV White Multicolor Alma. I love the bright colours, but the colours and the monogram and it being on something larger than a SLG all make it seem rather ostentatious to me now. Not to mention the vachetta is trashed as I purchased it second-hand and it's about $850 or thereabouts to replace.

BV Petal Medium Veneta. Too small, too plain, though the colour of the bag is beautiful. I'm hanging onto it though because even though I logically see it as a regret I don't want to part with it because I still do like it... is that odd?

My other regrets aren't to do with the bags themselves... more the money I spent on them that could have gone toward something more practical. The only consolation I have is that it's better I learn that lesson in my early twenties than later in life.

I just purchased an Alexander Wang red bag that looks kind of like a fortune cookie from Barney's online.
I love his clothing, and thought his bags were so different. Problem? The zipper on top is short, therefore making it difficult to dig around and find things. It's not really a shoulder bag either, It's an awkward "in between" bag. Plus the leather is hard, not soft and buttery like I prefer. So while it's beautiful to look at, using it is a pain in the butt.

Oh and my DVF Stephanie bag? I love it, so unique, so many compliments, but it comes unraveled! :( I have had to "repair" the loose leather strings countless times.

One more. I purchased an authenticate Hermes chocolate leather camera bag, it fits over your shoulder and has three little compartments all seated next to each other. It is a rare piece, but impractical unless you are a photographer! LOL. I have never carried it, but it is nice knowing I own a unique Hermes, since I will never own a real Berkin!

coach soho flap in i think 2007- sold
anything M by MK- terrible service and poor quality.

sometimes i buy something like my lv zcp and i lvoe for a bit then think why did i buy this it;'s too... something... then 6 months later love it again

my big regret is wasting so much $$ over the yrs on guess, danier and gap bags when i couldve been buying coach

Mulberry Alexa
A vintage Chanel that is too structured for me
Alexander Wang Coco - I feel like I got caught up in all the hype. I like it but it's not terribly practical.

A Burberry Pebbled Leather Hobo with chains.......I love big bags, BUT, that was the biggest, heaviest bag I have ever carried - carried it for one day and re-sold it.......

A Mulberry Oak Bayswater - Loved the leather, HATED the flap top........

Bottega Veneta - Maxi - STOOPID me sold it because I THOUGHT it was too big....should have kept it forever........

Large Bottega Venetas - didnt seem big enough for me - they need an XL thats between large and Maxi.....

BUT, I felt uncomfortable carrying BVs because they just didnt seem to fit the way I live and WHERE I live - does that make any sense??

RM Matinee - MOST beautiful grey bag I have ever had, but the zip opening was barely big enough for me to put my wallet in.......I need zippers that wrap OVER the sides........

LV bedford vernis in perle color. I think the material is too sensitive to dirt. And the leather vanchetta handles made some discoloration to the vernis. I listed it on craigslist and trade with a lv neverfull mm in monogram. :)

I am still kicking myself for paying $150 for a leather elliot lucca bag...the stitching fell apart and the Elliot Lucca customer service just says "that suck too bad!" They wont do anything even though the bag was used for about two weeks.
