What started your bag addiction

This place did. I found a link to here on a cosmetic forum and pretty quickly was addicted to the board. At first I thought people were insane in spending $1000 on a handbag but I did the same within 6 months.

I know what you mean! One of my friends introduced me to designer handbags during a gap year between high school and college. After I bought my first leather Juicy hobo, I wanted to know more about purses and stumbled onto the forum. I too thought people were crazy for spending that much money! And now I'm starting my own Chanel collection, so I guess I'm a little crazy too :smile1:

It all started when I saw a Chloe Marcie satchel. Until then I knew nothing about bags, carried all my stuff in a Kate spade tote that I got at Marshall's a few years back, and lost no sleep over a bag budget. When I saw a picture of the Marcie I didn't know what kind of bag it was, the price tag, the designer. All I knew was that my heart skipped a beat. I started doing some research and stumbled upon this place. A few weeks, many sleepless nights, and a couple of grand later here I sit loving my large Marcie in nut and coveting a merlot paraty.... Addicted? Nah!

Michael Kors Astor satchel in chocolate brown...I carried it almost everyday for two years I think? It was the priciest bag I ever bought at the time, and first designer bag. Bag still looks great...I could carry it still...just normal wear n tear and naturally aging leather.

Your post shows what we all know, here.....We love designer bags not because they are designers', not because we are snobs and want to show off but because they have something special ....

It all started a few years ago when I began noticing how quickly my bags were falling apart, so I began looking for better quality bags. I sold/gave away what I had and learned to invest in quality vs. quantity. My first was a black Sabrina (Coach) and I haven't looked back since. :smile1:

My first crush was my mum's Chanel 2.55 flap when i was 6. Whenever mum was out, i'd sneaked into her closet to played with it. Now that i have extensive Chanel collection i'm not so obsessed anymore, those chain straps are actually quite a pain in the arse..

I used to buy Coach bags and carry them until they died. Then my oldest daughter became enamored with wallets and handbags. She'd make me wait and wait and wait for her at TJMaxx or Marshalls while she perused the offerings. While I was waiting, I did some perusing of my own. That got me started. Then I discovered that Zappos sold purses, then I found my local Coach outlet. Around that time, I found tPF, and it was all downhill from there.

Oh whoops - supposed to have a story!! ;) Well, there really is no story with the Kale, just that I had started working full-time and could afford a nicer work bag, and I saw Kale on Editor's Closet (I used to stalk those flash sale sites daily for good deals!) and loved the fuchsia suede lining and look of the bag, so I bought it!

I did always like purses though...I grew up in a wealthy town but I didn't have a lot of money, but was super jealous of the girls who bought Coach bags! Then in college, where people also seemed to be super rich, my handbag obsession really took off. I bought a pink Coach bag for $100 at Marshall's that seemed like a good idea at the time! Lol. I do still use it sometimes. I was jealous of all the LVs, Guccis, and Pradas, and did also get a small nylon Prada that I use all the time. Now I'm more into indie and just super gorgeous leather...love bright colors too! Especially pink. :)

I LOVE my Marcie in nut!! Mine is the larger crossbody though. The leather gets more and more scrumptious.

Sorry, backto topic. I was always magically drawn to LV. My first designer bag was an LV. I bought it last year and am still do happy with it.
