What skin is the suede lining?

hi BV ladies

My friend asked me whether the lining is pig? Does anyone know for sure. She needs to know for religious reasons. Something I haven't thought about before!

I don't know if there is pig suede or not
a cow hide is a couple of inches thick
many layers

I have been told by BV that the lining is indeed made from sueded pig leather.

I had a friend who needed to know for the same reasons as your friend.

Tell her to look into Ferragamo...no pigskin there.

Suede is a leather treatment and many leathers are offered sueded...even snakeskin. Suede is made from the underside of the skin and brushed so it looks nappy. I have also heard from an SA that BV uses pigskin suede. Some of the older LE bags are lined in a soft pigskin that is smooth supple leather.

I have never heard of BV being pigskin suede. I am sure they could be. Any information I ever read always just refered to it as suede. No animal orgin was designated. I am sure this is important for clutures where pig or cow is taboo. There should be a way to find out. Maybe contact Sydney Richards.@ BV she is customer relations. she should be able to find out and let you know

Wow, great info here. I didn't know Suede was a leather even.. LOL. I just simply thought it was a material or fabric.. Okay silly me. Now i know.

I wish the lining was fabric. Not a can of suede. I know I can have the linings changed but so far haven't.

Fabric would certainly make the bags weigh less. My shoulders would be grateful. But it's a little less durable than sueded leather.
