What is the most that you'd spend on a handbag?

$1485 for my vintage chanel jumbo. if i had known 5 years ago i'd be buying a bag that costs that much, i would have thought i'm crazy and it'll never happen. in the next 5 years i can only imagine how much my bags will cost.

so normally, i'll spend a good $400 for a coach bag which only nags at me for a week or so after i've handed over the money because i know i'm getting a great deal for it. i love Maggies and Peytons and they are the perfect size to fit what i need to carry daily. my fiance's always teasing me, saying that i'll probably reward myself after my degree w/ an LV, my master's w/ a gucci, and my PhD/PsyD w/ a chanel. immediately i said i couldn't rationalize spending over $1000 for a bag, especially if i'd have to worry about taking care of it. i know, i'm 21 and i'll probably grow into being more comfy w/ the prices of premier designer bags as my OSAP loans get paid and i'm truly making money as a Psychologist but it got me wondering about everyone else's opinion. my 22nd birthday is next month and friends and family want to treat me to an LV Eva which is around $550 Canadian and i don't know whether to be grateful or to tell them it's too much and purchase it on my own when i can. i know it's on the lower spectrum of LV and i do love the Eva (all 3 actually) so let me know what you think! :D - by that i mean,
1) what you COACHIES think of any of the Evas (i don't know why i want to know what coachies think of an LV, but i do!)
2) what's the most you'd spend on a NON-coach bag?

It depends largely on the quality of the bag. I would consider a not well known designer even at slightly more than a Coach bag if the quality was amazing and the bag fit my needs and style. LV is a good designer, but I would have to inspect the bag in person before I could decide on whether or not it would be something I would invest in.

400 is the most i'd spend on coach, but as you can see i have quite a few LV's. (See Below) the most ive spent at one time is about 1200, but no more than 800 for 1 bag. i got one for 1200 once but it was returned....and i do have an eva. it is a lovely bag, quite versatile

Wow! You're' friends are awesome! I was thinking of getting an Eva for the summer too! its such a lovely little bag :) Very versatile like the poster above said.

I try not to spend so much on Coach bags b/c they end up at the outlets eventually, marked down in price :( Whereas, LV is different, they NEVER go on sale, so it retains its value. If you're friends have already pitched the idea of getting you the bag, let them! I mean, if they all offered to pitch in, I think its a lovely gesture :)

i used to have alot of LV's . i paid $620 for the multi-colore pouchette! and i have sold all of them off! LOL
i decided my collection will be all leather. my coach collection is complete, my rm collection is almost complete, and after that i'm going to start an all leather gucci collection (only 3 or 4 bags i want), then all leather lv collection (only 3 or 4 bags i want), then i'm gonna save up to add a couple of balenciaga and botega and chanel! which will cost a good 1200-2500 each!

alittle over $2000 for the multi speedy but I love her :O)all this stuff is over priced but I love it ... if its whats makes you happy why not
and no I don't think im too old for it lol

Oh, I'd be fine spending 3k+....whatever it takes, really.

Purses are my hobby. I work hard and reward myself accordingly. If there is something out there I want, I don't waffle over the price. Otherwise, what are all my long hours, boring meetings and stress for? A girl needs a little release now and then.

My belief is this...if you can afford it, you should have it. I don't believe in taking money from "bills" or from savings...but if, at the end of the month, I have something left over--it's all about luxury.

ETA: I wanted to also say, that with Coach I kind of go with "when the spirit moves me"...but once it's over 1k, I have to really love it. Price aside...it needs to be functional and something I *must* have.
