What is the most that you'd spend on a handbag?

My most expensive handbag is the Louis Vuitton Slightly Denim. It cost $1251 including the tax. It is well worth the price. 
There's a difference between actual cost and what you end up paying for a bag. Having said that the most expensive bag I own is my Gucci Tom Ford Dragon Collection bag. The actual cost of the bag is $3000, but I paid $500 for it at the Gucci outlet in Florence Italy.
Now, if you're asking what's the most we've ever paid for a bag then I'd have to say my LV Alma epi; $900 (5 years ago, now I think they retail for $1200).
I've never paid more than a $1000 for a bag, I always wait for sales.
Not to say I'm not willing to pay over that amount for a bag, just haven't done it yet!

the most I PAID for a bag was about $900 for my LV Petit Noe Damier w/vachetta that I had made.
The most expensive bag I own is an Anthracite Chloe Paddy that I bought from a tPFer. I paid $700 and I believe Paddy's are $1895 + tax, to date.

Y'all are way out of my league! I've been settling for Dooney and Coach. Even then, I shop for a deal. Now I am known to be frugal - but I can't imagine spending a mortgage payment on a purse! Wow! I'd feel paranoid that something was goping to happen to my collection every time I left the house
I understand where you're coming from. I have quiet a collection of Coach and love them all! I used to always settle (Brighton,D&B,Brahmin,Coach,etc...) all the while lusting for a LV! Then my thinking shifted to "why spend my hard earned money on ALL these other bags that I don't carry very much when I could just buy the bag I LOVE and carry it everyday?" I feel guilty when I initially make my purchase but it's worth the joy I get from carrying it! I feel like I'm getting my money's worth by actually carrying my bags!!!!
