How about something not related to actual bag construction?

While I have a great amount of respect for (and have been excited about in the past) the idea of getting something for a really good price, the idea that something that I may buy will wind up being at an outlet store (or copied closely at an outlet store by the same designer) or, later in the season, possibly be sold for 70-80% off at the same store, is somewhat of a turnoff for me.

It may be on the high side, but one of the reasons I love Hermes, among many, is that I know that whatever bag or leather piece I purchase in the store is of, usually, one quality standard, at one price, and that won't change. A few Hermes boutiques have sales on occasion but bags are usually never sold at a discount.

For me, I can never find the perfect color. It always needs to be a little deeper, or a little lighter, or something. Also not having outside pockets drives me crazy. I think I'm pretty easy to please but I can never seem to find the perfect bag. Oh and probably the MOST frustrating, the price haha!
yes to everything! I want something structured in smooth Napa luscious leather within my budget..with outside pocket but it is like finding a unicorn!

Leather totes! I would never have guessed all the points mentioned here would be relevant to leather totes like c'mon how hard it's to make a simple durable tote for close to $1k or over.

There's either wrong leather choice (too thin/delicate) or the sides are often stiched too close to the edges so the thread will become undone very easily indicating the tote will last 1-2 season(s) only. The base structure is another common problem. It's clearly visible that the base won't last unless you have planned to carry pillows in them. It's also funny to realize that the structure of the high end totes is, in most cases, identical to each other. Differences limited to brand name, leather choice and pouch only.

My non-designer tote scored 10-0 in every category.

Another thing that frustrates me is not knowing how the bag will look with my things in it. I usually go for something slouchy so the bag looks totally different when filled. I've never tried a bag out by putting my stuff in it at a store. I've wanted to but feel like I shouldn't. My stuff is a lot heavier than the stuffing they use so can't go based on that either. Just have to get it home and hope it looks good.

Along with this is online photographs of bags. Often, slouchy bags are stuffed to the brim with tissue, making them look bulky and puffed up like a balloon when in reality they would be far more smooshy…
