I have learned doing research and not buying because of its popularity is important! Buy bags that are practical enough for use all of the time not occasionally. If using a bag occasionally I don't suggest spending thousands on it. Do not impulse buy - walk away a few times to think over thoroughly! Make sure you have a good mix of bags to use at certain times! I could go on forever!

I learned I have an obsessive personality. And should have never started. I also learned I should just buy what I really wanted to begin with and not let price or waiting get in the way, because eventually I will get it anyway and could have avoided other purchases. I am learned I don't like having two many bags or bags the same in size, I don't like switching out or wasting time choosing what bag to use.

What I've learned:
1. I get bored easily, no matter what the cost/prestige.
2. Cannot part with a handbag no mater how much I hate it...I have a closet full of bags to remind
me. I need a handbag exorcist!
3. In some cases, I love the hunt more then the actual bag.

Can I come to play in your closet then? Lol

That's great. I definitely get caught up in frenzies but thankfully I have a short attention span :p I'm kind of doing what you are doing now though. I just wait and see how I feel..

The three main things I've learned are:
1) Will I actually USE the bag?
2) Always pay cash (I would be in deep trouble without this rule)
3) husbands do not need to know every little detail lol! What's for dinner? yes, Bought a new handbag? no
Love rule number 3!!!

I totally agree on all points!!!

1. Your sensitivity to prices are seriously dampened... I mean I say that its reasonable to spend $700+ on a wallet but I routinely only have about 30 ~ 40 dollars worth in it (without cards).
2. Sort of a Confessions of a Shopaholic moment where you question 'Do I need this?' and then result to go on a buying rampage - that was the past, and now I focus on three factors:
- Does it suit my lifestyle?
- Will it last me at least 5 years or more?
- What is the cost per wear factor? Is shelling out $2500+ on a bag worth the while?
3. STOP HOARDING CRAP THAT YOU KNOW YOU WON'T EVER WEAR OR USE AGAIN... the classic, oh I will just store it at the back just in case it comes back on trend in like a decade... Yeah if I don't like it or don't use it for more than a year - it will either go to friends, charity or sell it on eBay.
4. Sort of a paradox to above, but sometimes you just discover things that you haven't used or done and have it and then bring it out and start rocking it again... Bringing back my hoarding method.
5. Budgeting. Paying bills v. that latest 'it' item v. your health v. other expenses. Buying the latest item no matter if it is the latest Apple product, or bag, or shoe, whatever - do you have the funds for it, its simply a matter of opportunity costs...

Overall from when I first joined here, till now, my shopping habits have changed for the better and I am happy that I signed up here!

• BUY WHAT I CRAVE - Even if it's expensive, it's better to get the bag I reeeaaallly want. Otherwise I'll buy a substitute and still buy the bag I wanted anyway

• KNOW MY NEEDS - Don't buy a bag just because it's beautiful. Be sure it fills a wardrobe need and matches my current clothing.

• STAND ALONE - I don't like some of the currently popular brands. That's ok. I need to buy what I like.

• SIZE MATTERS - Huge bags and WOC are dead to me. I know my perfect size and shouldn't stray far from it.

• RESEARCH - Brands and popularity aren't always great indicators of quality, value and classic staying power.

• TRUST BUT VERIFY - I like vintage and pre-owned bags. I've never gotten burned by a fake but after hearing horror stories I buy from reputable sources AND get my bags verifier by two independent, professional authenticates.

• SHRUG IT OFF - If I don't wear a bag, just sell it. It clears up space in my mind and closet. And it gives me $$ for a new bag!

• THEY'RE JUST BAGS - Calm down, enjoy them, wear them. But let them be a backdrop to making sure my real life is beautiful.

• IT'S GOOD TO SPOIL MYSELF - My bag purchases are a reflection of my ability to take care of me which is a good thing!
