Mine is E color 1.07 ( hearts and arrow ) cut and my band is F color , when u put the two together my E- Ring is stands out more. The jeweler told us that the heart and arrow cut bring out more sparkles.

hokaplan - i'm not an expert in diamonds but my priority would be

1. Cut
2. Colour
3. Clarity

Having excellent cut makes all the difference. I can't tell the colour and clarity difference. My e-ring is H, earrings G and other diamond pieces are H. It's not worth to pay so much for the colour and clarity, but I would pay for cut. If you pass your ring to someone there is no way any layman would be able to tell you the specs without comparing. As DH says at the end of the day, you are the only know who knows!

Oh, I just want to add, I would rather pay for a nice Rolex! HEHE!! It's the workmanship in the watch.

I completely agree. As long as the cut is excellent, G-H-I look amazingly white. My e-ring is G VS1 RB excellent cut and looks very bright white and sparkly. If and when I upgrade, though, I may go down in color and clarity to H VS2, as that also still looks very bright and is a good value. As a rule of thumb, I generally would tend to stick with G-H as these are good value and still very bright, but I have seen tons of I colored rings on this forum that are TDF (shout out to Swanky's ring!!!), so I would definitely be open to that too, especially if I were going for a large carat size where the price difference in color grade is exponential.

I was totally set on a "D" but dramatically changed my mind in the last couple hours. Definitely not worth the thousands more for it!

I have a pear necklace F color, studs H color, and a I color cushion ring, they all sparkle beautifully i any light, actually the cushion the most, I chose these stones at the store for their individual beauty, not for their certificate, if you are happy then that's the most important thing

NY Village Girl is right. I think cut is king. I wouldn't waste the money on a D. If color is important to you, and it is to me, I would go F-H with a fantastic cut. I have an F and it is bright white. I would have gone to G if they had them available at the time. H felt a little too warm for me, but I am super color sensitive.

It seems that most people here that know about diamonds talk about cut being most important. Most people also seem to be willing to go down as low as an "I". Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hokaplan, I think you are right most people that know diamonds would be willing to compromise color for cut. If you really want to talk diamonds go to pricescope.com. They really know diamonds.

Mine is an F colored 1.02 stone. I am extremely happy with this.

I do not know if you know this, but Tiffany sells I colored stones. So, your stone is in the same category as many tiffany rings. Hope this is helpful. :)

My E-ring is Tiffany setting, I color, VVS1, and it looks icy white and sparkles like no tomorrow. To me, the cut and clarity are the most important, then size and color.

if you get a VERY well cut stone you can go down to a J K L even.

yup! and for comparisons sake, having a lower grade color doesn't always equate to a less-than-sparkly stone.

please refer to this thread so you can see all the beautiful diamonds that erica has posted, and i believe they're all K or lower. gorgy and definitely droolworthy.

Mine is from Tiffany & Co: 1.07 carat, H and VS2 with 3 EX and 1.9 score on the ideal diamond website. Ppl always comment on how sparkly my diamond is and they all said it's colour E or F which isn't.

Mine is a 1.76ct, round, H color, VVS1 with an excellent cut from Tiffany & Co.
My Fiance's sister just got engaged and has a 1.56ct, E color, VVS1 (emerald cut) and it looks very very icy...

Mine is E / VVS1.
To me, color is VERY important. I have seen so many diamonds when my fiance and I were doing ring shopping. I tried to accept F color, but I could see the yellow tint so easily. In the end, only E color seems nearly colorless to me. I guess I have super sentitive eyes.
