Mine is a G... I find it extremely white! But I saw some I's at Tiffany's that totally had me in love too!

I think that this website puts a lot of focus on details and ratings and stuff... your ring sounds just beautiful! Most girls would die for a 1 carat, let alone 1.25... and I falls under Tiffany diamond standards, which to me is just fine! Don't worry too much about that stuff, it sounds lovely!

Mine is F- for "f'ing fabulous!!

But I had a G previous which was equally stunning.

You can have fabulous color.....but if it's not cut properly, even the most flawless looking diamond can look "off"

Mine is E / VVS1.
To me, color is VERY important. I have seen so many diamonds when my fiance and I were doing ring shopping. I tried to accept F color, but I could see the yellow tint so easily. In the end, only E color seems nearly colorless to me. I guess I have super sentitive eyes.

:-s sounds like it wasn't cut amazing. You shouldn't be able to see color from the top on an F.

Mine is an H (non-certified).
However I like the color of the solitaire that I got for my anniversary (certified F) much better.
I have certified (I am talking AGS certification here) H color earrings that are ideal cut and they are wonderful. However, I like my F color ring better than those.
I would never have noticed the difference if I hadn't gotten the F color and got used to wearing it. I thought the uncertified H was white until I got the F. I still do think its pretty. But I like the F better. You cannot see the difference from the top. You see it looking through the side. Looking at the F from the side is like looking through an ice cube. I personally enjoy this. I tend to look at my rings a lot and I have come to love that icy white.
I am always hearing--or rather, I used to alway hear when I was on Pricescope, that well cut diamonds of whatever color H, I, J, whatever-- faced up 'perfectly white' but that has not been my experience. I think that well-cut diamonds SPARKLE more and the sparkle looks attractive. I don't think that a great cut makes an I look like a G (much less like a D, E or F). I think it makes it look like a very pretty I, which you might be fine with for one of two reasons a) you never see it next to a well-cut higher color, so it looks white enough to you--an I is still a white diamond, after all or b) you like diamonds with more color, which some people do. Not everyone likes or wants icy white.

Just by the by--IRL no one has ever asked me what the color of any of my diamonds are and this is something I think few people care about, once you get off the internet. So I don't think this is worth obsessing about, not one bit.

I saw one at Tiffany and one loose diamond on 47th St. Both were EX cut. I could see the yellow tint in both under natural light. They just didn't look as icy as D or E color to me. When I easily point out the F color from E, the Tiffany SA was quite surprised and asked me what I do for living. :D

Mine is an E.

Every diamond is truly individual - diamonds with great specs (color/clarity) can look like duds if cut improperly & those with a lower color can have an amazing amount of fire based on the individual diamond in question.

I was always biased until I saw a stone that I wouldn't have looked at based on the specs but was seriously impressed with upon viewing in person & comparing with other "better color" stones. It truly was a revelation & excellent lesson.
