i thought i was used to carry heavy bags, i stuff my work bag and it weighs quite abit. plus i carried my dslr in my RH city & other essentials around europe for 3 weeks so i thought GH would not be a problem for me.

boy was i wrong! the GH PT is really heavy!!! my shoulders ache after a few hours even though i dont have much in the bag. i dont even dare to use it as a work bag or i will absolutely die!

strangely, GH city is not as heavy as the GH PT. i still feel the strain on my shoulders after several hours though.

I don't feel like the GH bags are heavy. More like the RH bags are really light, especially in comparison with non-Bal bags. My other main brand is Chloe, so even my GH WEs feel pretty light unless I have loaded them with stuff. My RH bags always feel light, even with a computer inside ;)

I also want to know that City or Day is heavier.
Does anyone know the answer ?

I had City and sold it cos of the weight. Anyway, I still love to try again with Day.
any idea about it's weight ?

^^You mean you found a GH or a RH City too heavy?

I'd say the weights of a Day and City are about the same - GH Day and GH City; RH Day and RH City.

If you're really after a GH bag, perhaps a GH First or GH Town instead since the hardware are smaller.

I originally wanted to purchase a Giant Anthracite city in the upcoming 2011 spring/summer collection but one reason why i wanted to buy Balenciaga is people often comment how lightweight they are ! but after reading and doing some research on the forum, some people think the Giant city is too heavy ? since i have never purchased a Balenciaga bag b4 i have no idea how those two compare in weight ? and also i dress quite causally (jeans with t-shirts or coats most of the time) would the Giant city style suits me better or the regualr hardware city ? :p
(i am 34 with a 4 yr old )

I LOVE my Giant City and honestly I almost did not get it because I was afraid it might be too heavy from everything I read.

I have not found it to be too heavy at all. I adore it. Now I have heard that the Part-Time is heavier than the City, so for me, I would not get the PT, but my GSH City I love so very much.

I think RH or GH would both work with your wardrobe. I would just go for what is pleasing to your eye.

I love my giant city too! It's not that it's heavy, it's just heavier than the RH (if that makes sense!). I've two children under 3 (I'm also 34) so am dressed down most of the time but still think my GH works well with casual or glam outfits. I'd say go for the style/bag that you love most. Hope this helps!

ok...honestly, I am a bohemian type, and I think GH are too much bling....it is really too much "shine" in my opinion, and if you not really dressed, it looks a bit strange... I prefer PT with regular as I am tall and I love the lightweight...I have also PT GH, and boy - it is heavy!!! agree, still nothing in comparison to my Chloe Paddi, but BB are known mainly for the lightweight! PT GH are great for those days when you are "dress casual" - in my view :)

imo, GH only goes well on bigger bags: hobo, work, weekender. It looks funny on the city for some reason. Perhaps it's trying to squeeze too much on too little surface.

Maybe a good compromise would be to use the mini-Giant hardware on the City like they do on the smaller bags (First). ;)

I LOVE the look of them, especially in Gold, much more than the brass especially for the dressier items. I actually like the GGH on the clutches, as that's definitely dressier.

I've actually been searching the forum trying to figure this out - do Citys come in mini-giant hardware like the Firsts?

I'm with chloe speaks, I love the GH but it's a bit too bling for me and I prefer the lighter weight of RH bags.

I ended up returning my Coq GSH City - my left shoulder just couldn't take the weight of it + the addition of my iPhone, coq money wallet, small makeup bag with lip gloss, tweezer, mints, pen, of course just made it a bit heavier. I'd rather get a smaller/lighter Bal bag that will fit my small amount of stuff and be able to use it every day without my shoulder suffering.

I'm looking into the Town with silver hardware (like the hardware on the money wallet). IIRC, I think this is larger than the First but smaller than the City-correct? I asked a Bal SA if the City comes in the small silver hardware and unfortunately, at this time, the City only comes in giant hardware and regular hardware. But, I am hoping it will come in the small silver hardware in the future.

I am hoping they will produce this combination in the nearest future-City with small silver hardware in Coquelicot:graucho:.
