...So, I was thinking that I'd love to get my hot little hands on a weekender in one of the MANY FABULOUS brown colors.

And then I realize, the W/E does not come with a shoulder strap.

Now...in my mind...a bag that you're going to stuff a lot in to, that would tend to be heavy, should have a shoulder strap.

Please share your thoughts.
Maybe I'm missing something obvious. :confused1:

Thanks, ladies (and gentleman!)

ITA! The weekender is the bag that I would MOST want a strap on! If I were using it for traveling, I would really need to have my hands free! I think bal should add straps to the work also!

Another Work as everyday bag devotee here.

My older worked in Works (05 Bordeaux and Indigo) have handles stretched far enough to wear over the shoulders, even over a jacket. GH Works already come with slightly longer handles, and can be worn over a jacket. I expect over time they'll get even roomier. Here's an example of a brand new Plomb SGH Work worn over a leather jacket. It's is a snug fit, but what that means to me is that it will stay put!

Same here! I wished there are adjustable straps on the WE and Work.
I used both my WE and Work during my holiday in HK and it was so heavy after stuffing all my shopping loot in them! lol

It's a shame, because I definitely won't buy the bag for that reason.
They're beautiful, just like all Balenciaga bags, but - for them not to even try to be practical, I just can't see myself spending the money. I'd probably go for an LV instead.

I compared the same amount of stuff in a Work, Weekender and an LV Keepall 50 (with strap!). Here was the outcome:

Work - great handbag and travel bag, doesn't hold as much as Weekender, but still holds alot and doesn't get too heavy...yet sometimes while carrying it travelling thinking "Gosh I wish I had a weekender for this purpose"

Weekender - great big bag, holds much more than Work, looks so cool to carry, but if you stuff it, it is sooo heavy because the bulk of the weight hangs too low on the body, gravity pulling down - KWIM? As much as I love the look and all the luscious bal leather, I gave up on this idea...

LV Keepall - holds about the same or more than Weekender, but because of the shape the weight is distributed much better. Downside is it carries like a duffel, not like a bbag.

So in summary I got a Keepall instead of the Weekender (***duck***)

haha brunette, no need to duck- totally understand the logic of your choice!!

thanks for the information- very helpful!! I'm curious to see how the work will be for me as a carry-on. I never thought of a stuffed weekender being awkward because it's so low to the ground, but that totally makes sense- esp. for a shorty like me!

i agree with everyone- Bal take note! either add a long strap to the work and WE, or else lengthen the handles significantly!!

I would love to have all that leather to hold... but i'm wondering about practicality.. I don't mind wearing the same bag for a stretch at a time.. and I wonder how many pfers pull off just casually carrying all that yumminess!!?

I can see that as a true travel bag the weekender does have some flaws b/c of the way it hangs and lack of a shoulder strap..

i have the worst relationship with the WORK bag... I've been through 2 of them... one blueberry and one black... i don't know why but i always think it looks like a sack on me! i thought when i got my work, i'd fall in love but it just didnt work out and now this thread is here... i'm like AHAHAHAHAH, i want a WORK! :hysteric: I think for me it needs to be pre-loved... I just love the sag! I think the WORK bag is perfect but then again all BBags are!!! Geez, I'm no help :sweatdrop:

ITA!!! sigh and i really only want an 05 or older weekender but it's hard to find one of those in good condition!! :( that picture of the girl in the satorialist with the 03/04? red weekender comes back to haunt me all the time, i want one!! :girlsigh:

^^OMG, he has TWO photos of that woman (a model?) on his site. I think she has a Rouge Theatre Weekender. My dream bag.

for me the best bag i use for work is the work style. the weekender i use it as an everyday bag too, but less often than my two works. but i definitely don't think they are too big at all. i'm 1m70 (5'7). here are some picts. i find my twiggy a bit too small when i have to fit many things in like a A4 paper booklet, or my hat in it.

here are some pics of me and my truffle work, my vert foncé weekender and my teal work, i love them because i can fit anything in and they are lightweight. the weekender is a bit heavier than the work model but stays very light for such a big bag.
