I compared the same amount of stuff in a Work, Weekender and an LV Keepall 50 (with strap!). Here was the outcome:

Work - great handbag and travel bag, doesn't hold as much as Weekender, but still holds alot and doesn't get too heavy...yet sometimes while carrying it travelling thinking "Gosh I wish I had a weekender for this purpose"

Weekender - great big bag, holds much more than Work, looks so cool to carry, but if you stuff it, it is sooo heavy because the bulk of the weight hangs too low on the body, gravity pulling down - KWIM? As much as I love the look and all the luscious bal leather, I gave up on this idea...

LV Keepall - holds about the same or more than Weekender, but because of the shape the weight is distributed much better. Downside is it carries like a duffel, not like a bbag.

So in summary I got a Keepall instead of the Weekender (***duck***)
Such an informative post.
And, no need to DUCK - I believe I'll be doing the same thing.
My  is still w/BBags, though.

i use it as everyday bag, so the lack of shoulder strap doesn't bother me. but it's true that if you put a lot in it, it can become very heavy and hold your shoulder down on one side. the bag itself empty is a bit heavier than the work style. i love the weekender, and think you'll love it if you get one.

^ looking fab *D* !! ~ your bags are gorrrrgeous!! ~ i am contemplating a saddle work or weekender for autumn ~ i have such high hopes for that colour! :sweatdrop:
viki, i tried to send you a message but your box was full, the message didn't get through.
above, some pics of my vert foncé weekender, i have some more close up shots on the clubhouse weekender and on the balenciaga style posts for weekender.
hope you'll get the weekender of your dream soon.

Oh WOW I hadn't seen the top two of the model with the RT weekender- only the bottom two. Even though the weekender is too big for me personally, I loooove that bag- makes me want an RT work!!

It's a shame, because I definitely won't buy the bag for that reason.
They're beautiful, just like all Balenciaga bags, but - for them not to even try to be practical, I just can't see myself spending the money. I'd probably go for an LV instead.
ITA! I would love to add this bag as a travel carry on, but I really like to have my hands free. Balenciaga would really give the LV Keepall a run if it were to add a longer strap.

why would anyone want to carry a weekender around as a everyday bag anyway? thats like carrying a weekend bag for everyday....

well I would have a use for a weekender a few times a year as a travel bag, but i would also want to wear it out on more than traveling occasions.. big bags can be really funky not to mention useful if you've got lots to carry..

I believe that a work is probably the best big everyday hand-bbag tho.. but i wanted to hear from others as well.

I'm 5'7 too ! I thought a city was too small for me... although all my bags are pretty oversized... my work has always fit comfortably over my shoulder, but it was very soft and broken in when i bought it
