Hi Robee,

I'm French and HERMES addicted :graucho::graucho:.

You can find very beautiful places in our country, and they all have a wonderful Hermes boutique to discover...

Paris is obviously your main destination, but you can also discover one or two lovely little towns.

My favorite place for holidays is BIARRITZ (one hour from Paris by plane). It's in the Pays Basque near Spain and on the Ocean.

I stay at HOTEL DU PALAIS (you can google it) which is a wonderful palace (the food is delightful) with a view on the ocean. There is an inside pool, a SPA and....the hotel is just near an HERMES boutique (I left DH with the kids playing on the beach or in the pool :D).

You have also a Sea Museum for the kids with sharks and my little son loves to go here.

I live in Marseille and think it's not a good place for tourism. The city centre is awful and I prefer to go to Aix to go shopping H even if the Marseille's boutique is near my house.

You could also appreciate Cannes which is on the French Riviera. There are many de Luxe boutiques, hotels and Mediterranean sea. St Tropez, Monaco and Nice are not far and you could enjoy a very nice weather during your stay.

I attache some pics of Biarritz...Love this town and people here are very sweet !

I was planning on visiting Marseille but after reading your post should I avoid it? Should I go to Lyon or Provence? FrenchSandra so is your H in Marseille not worth a look? What about the bouillabaisse? I heard it was very good. I will be staying in Nice and visiting Cannes and Monaco for sure.

Robee I am bringing my netbook with me so I will be posting a travelogue while I'm in Europe.

I am depending on you for detail travelogue cum H-ermeslogue hahhahah

I was going through readings and internet... Nice is a nice city to go and Cannes and Monaco is not far.. a day trip will suffice.

I read a trip recommendation on my local newspaper not long ago, Lyon seems to be really nice, full of history and underrated.

frenchsandra

your DD is so cute.......... and the background pictures of the beach is really nice...... thanks for sharing.

Where are the nice places we can find H stores............:graucho:

I will definitely check out Biarritz and find out more about this place.......

pyrexia - near to FSH impt ahhahahahahah dnt tell DH. Told DH i want to enjoy disney!
u think for a kid 1 day is enough?

bagfreak - u are listing the "obvious" which I can't show DH hee hee..........

ladyhermes
- thanks for the link

The parks are fairly huge (much bigger than HK Disney, but of course smaller than Orlando) so I think for a child two days would be best (assuming that he'd want to sit on every ride!)

I don't know anything about the other French towns so can't help you there... We spent all our time in Paris (with lots of time budgeted to shop!) and later took a Eurostar into London (two hours journey). You might want to consider that as well :smile1:

or u mean the mum wants to sit every ride hhhahahahah

I did ldn/paris in jan this year... so I thought this round just to do just france... but i am tempted about ldn... hahaha;p

how about paris and milan?

We didn't travel down south, but up north towards Glasgow instead... after all the damage done to the wallet in Paris, we just wanted to look at the scenary!

Jadeite : You have to plan a travel to France. You will not be disappointed ;)

Robee : If you go to Disney, avoid the WE. So many people !!! There are two parks : The Disneyland Park and Universal Studios, so you can stay two days.

For your H trip, it depends on the time left after your Paris trip...
The south is great with Cannes, Monaco and Nice and St Tropez.

St tropez is a little town-80 kms from Cannes- very well known (in summer there are plenty of yachts and VIPs) but also typical and charming. And, of course, there is an H boutique.

AnythingHermes : I don't like Bouillabaisse (such a shame ). Marseille is a big city and I think it's not very safe for tourists...When I go to the H boutique (it'a great boutique ) I have to be careful with my purchases and put them in a non H paper bag.

I don't know Lyon, but near Marseille, you have Aix-en-Provence which is a beautiful city with wonderful restaurants, boutiques and museums.
I love the H boutique here...The SAs are very helpful.

Thanks Sandra

Pardon me, what is WE? I have been to Paris this Jan, but of cos I still want to spend more time there...... 4 days when i arrive and another 3-4 days when I back from other cities in france.....

My priority will be sightseeing, then H... as I will end my trip in Paris, I am sure there will be enough things (not enough monies) for me to buy :D

Can you recommend accommodation in NICE?

If you are short on time down South Robee, although St Trop is nice and the H store is fun, it can be a pain to get to as there is no direct train or motorway and you would need to take the coast road or for speed a helicopter. Remember also that you will be out of season, although they will be gearing up for Christmas. Christmas in SoF is wonderful.

BTW WE means weekend. ;)

with a young DS, i think accessibility to transport is most impt.... can't imagine when he gets grouchy and DH impatience.....

I think i should not try to be too adverturous..... take it slow and easi

How about the wine region? any advise?
