wearing designer bags over 5 years old

If you have beautiful classic bags, they should last a very long time. Give them the interesting life they deserve. I love taking my yellow LV Epi Sac Triangle (discontinued at least 15 years ago) into the store on 57th street -- all the SAs ooh and aaaah. a great bag transcends fashion.

I think it depends somewhat. I don't know if I would carry a Dior saddle satchel bag at this point. Super It bags make me think I would be dated if I carried them. But anything else? Game on.

This question surprised me. The age of a bag wouldn't be important to me at all. The only things that matter are if I love it and it isn't "dated". Someone mentioned the dated Dior saddle bag. I had Fendi B bag. Those "it" bags often look dated because they are so closely identified with an era. So I think those have a shorter shelf life if you want to be "on trend".

But that being said, I WANT my bags to last me longer than 5 years. With the prices I'm paying, I can't get enough wear out of them in a few years since I only wear each one a day or two a month. Hopefully some will be with me til death and passed on to my daughter.

So, enjoy your bags as long as you'd like!
OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I bought this saddlebag in 1999 from Dior. I've worn it maybe 10 times so it's in BN condition. After a 5 year vacation I wore it a couple months ago because it went well with my outfit. Never really thought of the "dated" aspect...I just like it. I did get a bunch of compliments but I live in "fashion hell"...
what do they know! [emoji57]

I'm sorry! I didn't mean to offend anyone. Your bag is a really beautiful style of it!

but do you think it's appropriate to wear an old bag to a gala party, not vintage, just from some old collection?

I think it's fine to carry any bag as long as it is in good condition to a gala party. Meaning it is not stained, stitching is still intact and complements with your outfit. The age of the bag should matter or what collection it came from. Who knows, maybe you will meet another bag lover who recognizes your bag and will become friends. Just enjoy your gala.

Ignore us. We're yammering away with opinions. That bag is beautiful! 😊

many of my bags are 7+ years old...and still get many compliments. It's your bag, you paid for it [or received it as a gift, or however you acquired it], who is to say when/where you can or cannot wear it!

Like someone here said, the 'average' person wouldn't have any idea a purse is old if it's still in good condition. Unless you are going to a fashion event where people would know and would judge you, I don't think there is anything wrong with using any item that is in good shape.

OMG...of course I'm not offended! I thought your post was a hoot!
I'm old (but gorgeous, LOL!) and probably "dated", too...that bag and I have a lot in common! [emoji8]

LOLOLOL. U made me laughed so hard. I love your humor. Enjoy all your bags!

Ok back to the question...YES I definitely wear old bags. I don't care if people think they are dated. I wear whatever I love to please myself only.

For the past few weeks I have been searching Vintage bags on eBay. I have bought a few from 1960's & 70's. I will continue to search more.

I also bought old bags I missed years ago. I know they are no longer considered trendy but I still like them! Am I supposed to refrain myself from buying what I love just because they are dated. I don't think so. When it comes to LV Bags, I prefer used look, honey colored vachetta so I don't mind buying LV from 5 or even 10 year's design! I rotate my bags too often, so my LV won't get that patina look fast enough.

I have Fendi B Bag which some members here think it's outdated [emoji23]. I still carry her once a blue moon. The bag gives me nostalgia feeling......oh how I used to love that Fendi B!! I practically carried the bag for months non stop when I first bought her.

Just enjoy your bags! [emoji8]
