wearing designer bags over 5 years old

Why not?? I have bags that are 20 years + & wear them with the same level of
enthusiasm as when I first bought them.

I don't like a bag to look beat up but I do care for my bags & like to keep
them looking as good as they can possibly be

I even *buy* bags that are 20+ years old. Hotshot is right IMO, if the bag is in decent shape, the age doesn't matter.

I think it depends somewhat. I don't know if I would carry a Dior saddle satchel bag at this point. Super It bags make me think I would be dated if I carried them. But anything else? Game on.

Hey dear bag lovers,
I've been wondering if it's ok to be wearing designer bags (prada, d&g, tods, salvatore ferragamo --- not all time staple bags) that are in Ok-ish condition but that are over 5 years old, from old collections? What is your take on this?
I think it's absolutely fine. I have many older bags in excellent condition and I carry them regularly. If you buy bags in classic shapes, colors, etc., you can wear them for a lifetime. I say wear what you love :smile1:

This question surprised me. The age of a bag wouldn't be important to me at all. The only things that matter are if I love it and it isn't "dated". Someone mentioned the dated Dior saddle bag. I had Fendi B bag. Those "it" bags often look dated because they are so closely identified with an era. So I think those have a shorter shelf life if you want to be "on trend".

But that being said, I WANT my bags to last me longer than 5 years. With the prices I'm paying, I can't get enough wear out of them in a few years since I only wear each one a day or two a month. Hopefully some will be with me til death and passed on to my daughter.

So, enjoy your bags as long as you'd like!

What? I carry my Fendi Diavolo and my Dior Detective bags every once in a while, and they're more than 10 years old-I should be surprised if a lot of people even know what they are. Do I care what they think? Nope. And actually I've received compliments on both from complete strangers, so old bags are not out of place! You bet I want to get my money's worth for them.

One of the bags I'm currently carrying is 5 or 6 years old. It still looks fresh, at least in my opinion.

I plan to carry my bags until they fall apart. If that's less then 5 years, I'll be pretty disappointed.

I buy my bags with the intention of them lasting for as long as I like them - no matter how old they are. Older bags are often better quality anyway. Granted, I'm not into trendy bags and usually buy classic designs so that helps. However, even if something looked dated and I loved it, I'd still wear it; gives personality to your outfit. I had this quirky evening bag from my mom that was clearly old school and it received compliments every time I wore it (sadly I lost it and still miss it to this day).

Wear what you love and don't worry about trends or what others think. As long as it fits your style, you're fabulous :D

Well, sure.
Seems fine.
Mind you, I still wear a shirt I bought in 1994. And become alarmed by the celine luggage robot-faces.
So, may be a little off-trend & a far cry from fashionista.;)
However, I enjoy life tremendously. Fair enough.

So here I am using my 10-13 year old LV bucket bag. I debated selling this bag for quite some time because I'm not a huge fan of the monogram anymore and because it has an open top, plus I don't know if it looks dated. However, I would only get a couple hundred bucks at most for it so to me it's better to just use it on days where it rains, is extremely hot (and my hands will have sunblock on them), snows, etc. To be honest it's not my favorite bag but now after using it again I am glad I didn't get rid of it. I did sell a couple of bags that were really dated, such as the Fendi B Bag (as some other poster mentioned she did the same). So I think it depends on the bag.
