wearing designer bags over 5 years old

I have a white Gucci bag with a shoulder strap that I bought in Rome in 1985. I still pull it out occasionally. Would probably get more use out of it except I don't really like white bags (I was young when I bought it!) What I love about it is that it is not a recognizable Gucci bag and I don't feel like it looks outdated. I also don't see it on every other person. Hmm, summer is quickly approaching, I will have to pull it out again soon!

Hey dear bag lovers,
I've been wondering if it's ok to be wearing designer bags (prada, d&g, tods, salvatore ferragamo --- not all time staple bags) that are in Ok-ish condition but that are over 5 years old, from old collections? What is your take on this?
Wow this is a really old thread but I have my answer as yes it's okay for me and my bag in question is my darling Burberry haymarket check tote as I know it'll always stay in style.

More than five years old? One of my Kellys is 65 years old. One is 37. I have a 20 year old Chanel. One of my Birkins is 11. And any of these bags, anywhere I go, is as stylish as anything in the room. I could say the same about any truly classic vintage style, especially a top handle, flap, or frame bag.
Would I wear a super-trendy bag from years past? Of course, if I loved it. I'd love to have a Chloe Paddington, some Sprouse LV, a YSL Mombasa, an old Jamin Puech clubbing bag, a Chloe bracelet bag..... if I could have unlimited bags.

Oh my gosh! Why would you not wear them?
Especially if you love them. I have the YSL Large Mombasa in all colors but this one is my go to.

OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I bought this saddlebag in 1999 from Dior. I've worn it maybe 10 times so it's in BN condition. After a 5 year vacation I wore it a couple months ago because it went well with my outfit. Never really thought of the "dated" aspect...I just like it. I did get a bunch of compliments but I live in "fashion hell"...
what do they know! [emoji57]
I love this Dior!

eh, I'm on the fence about this one. Some bag styles are played out. Birkins and Kelly's are timeless, which is why Hermes is smart to never change them, but LV and others change their bags so often that they go out of style quicker.
For instance LV speedy's. I have this LV speedy from 2012 and I consider it out of style and won't wear it. I tried to sell it but its worthless. So it sits in my closet hoping speedy's will come back in style
So yes, in some cases 5 years it's over

The Speedy has been around for decades, so I would consider it timeless for sure. I'm not familiar with your bag but it looks very different from my classic speedy.

I just started using my circa-2007 YSL deerskin Downtown for the first time in probably 8 years. I had forgotten how much I loved that bag. It is so easy and has the perfect drape. I've been using it for all of my weekend errands. I think that it looks great, even 10 years later!
