I don't cover the inside of my shoes. My cobbler doesn't so I don't.
Yes, I treated my RB Jennys & RB ADs.
I treated my UV Suede Lux and it was a deluge today. Actually wore them to the Boutique. Doesn't even faze them anymore me walking in with my shoes on in the pouring rain.
Came home, brushed my suede with my suede brush and put them to bed. No water stains, no rubs. All is fine in Lux world.

What are your thoughts on the Jade WS? ... Or did you already post that and I completely missed it??? Wouldn't surprise me.

This topic seems to be coming up frequently with all of the new Nabuck Watersnake out right now.

I am offering what I've been using for several years to water/stainproof all of my Nabuck, Opaco, python, watersnake, eel, suede, alligator, lambskin, etc shoes (Louboutins) and handbags (Chanels).

I am not making any guarantees or promises but everyone that I have given this advice to has had great success with it.

The product that I use (which is what the best cobblers who deal with exotics use) is Meltonian Waterproof/Stainproof. A link to it on Amazon.com is here:
http://www.amazon.com/WATERPROOFERS-AND-CLEANERS-MELTONIAN-WATERPROOF/dp/B004IA0RI8

Spray your shoes, bags, etc, one time from arm's length away completely. Let dry overnight. Repeat. When you first spray them, they are going to darken. You will see them immediately start to lighten back up to their original color as the spray dries. Don't panic.

They will get dirty. Buy a very soft brush (I use a facial brush) to brush the dirt out of the scales. Go against the scales. Never retreat a dirty shoe or treat a dirty shoe as you will simply be embedding the dirt into the scales that way.

I treat my shoes, depending on wear, every 6-8 months and have them professionally cleaned as little as possible and only as needed. When you have them professionally cleaned, make sure you tell your cobbler that they are treated with Meltonian because they won't have to use as harsh of a cleaner.

I have used this on stark white Opaco python and just got done spraying my new Powder Pink Jennys.

To show you how good it is, my original Powder Pink ADs are 3 years old and I am just now going to dye them, not because they are so dirty but because I now have (finally) new PP shoes and can dye these. They have been professionally cleaned 4 or 5 times.

The more you have to professionally clean Nabuck or Opaco, the more the python lays down. So, that's why it's so important to treat your shoes as soon as you get them.

Feel free to ask any questions. But, hopfully, this gives you the information that you've been looking for.

Thanks for this thread! I ordered the Meltonian in preparation for the arrival of the VPs and I'll think I'll treat them anyway as the bottles have just arrived. At least I'll have it on hand when the Daffodils get here.

I think you said you use it on all types of shoes - exotics, suede, and leather - is that correct?

What are your thoughts on the Jade WS? ... Or did you already post that and I completely missed it??? Wouldn't surprise me.

What do you mean thoughts? Are you asking me if I would spray them? I spray all my shoes. I didn't keep the Jade Jennys because I didn't like the color but I would have treated them before I wore them.

If I treated my PP Jennys and/or my Opaco Python White NPs, why wouldn't I treat Jade watersnake Jennys? I treat my handbags.

I only started this thread because so many people asked me what I do to keep my exotics in such good shape because I wear them so often and I own so many.

If you don't feel comfortable doing it, you shouldn't. I wouldn't walk out of the house WITHOUT treating my exotics. But, that's just me. Do whatever you're comfortable with.

Wow. I was just asking because so many of us are terrified of ruining that particular colour. :shrugs:

Thanks so much for this thread, Nat! I've been scared to wear my PP altadamas. But I'm off to order some of your magic spray. I have two questions... I just want to make sure that I can use it on Chanel Lambskin? Also, I have a small spot on a red satin Chanel clutch, any suggestions? Thanks again for all your advice:hugs:

jenay-my love, I was just saying that I don't want you to fret over it. You should only do it if you feel comfortable. This thread was only an informative thread. I didn't mean to make anyone feel like they should or shouldn't. I was just providing information as to what I do.

You should send them to me and then I'll send them back. Then after, I'll tell you whether I sprayed them or not.:p

Ok guys...I did the Melatonian and have some before and after pics to show. I think it works great!! There's no color change in the shoe.

Before...

After spraying... Mind you it is darker because it's still wet.

Side by side comparison with the other shoe that I DID NOT spray yet (left shoe = sprayed, right shoe = not sprayed)...

As you can see, there is no color change. I also did not cover the insole of the shoe because the spray also protects leather...which is what the insole is made of. HTH!!!

I just sprayed mine too -- in fact, good thing I ordered two bottles because I'm almost done with it (I have a lot of shoes that needed it). I even sprayed the calf hair ones -- excited to see the results :D
