I ordered Meltonian! I can't wait to spray my ADs and Jennys! I just wanted to make sure I get this correctly: I apply one coat (not two like the bottle says), and then let it dry and repeat the one coat correct?
Also, I read that you said not to spray the Meltonian on dirty shoes and since mine kind of have these stains that look like glue because they are sticky stains and it is not in the actual skin, I should not use the Dyo reptile cleaner like you suggested to Jenay right?

Ok. I am totally done harassing you with these questions...I swear:smooch: lol

You are awesome to be helping us all with this! You should win some kind of prize on TPF for most valuable member or something LOL :idea:Hey that is a good idea...every month we have a MVM with a feature on the member! hahahahaha

I adore you, but, it's easier if you go back and read the initial post with the instructions so I don't forget something.

As far as what you are seeing on the knot on your shoe, I can't tell if it's surface or just darkened dye. It's hard to tell from the picture. I would find it hard to believe that it's glue. My feeling is that it's a darkened dye spot and it's just going to be there.

If the shoe is dirty, like you've worn them and gotten them dirty, use the soft brush first to get the dirt out of the scales then spray. If it's heel dirt, like you've worn them and the bottom of the heels have gotten wet or dirty, then you need to clean them first or you're setting the dirt in.

Unfortunately, those are just dye imperfections. The more exotics you buy, the more you'll see it. They didn't used to come that way but they are producing so many now that it's impossible to get an even dye when you use vegetable dye, which is what CL uses, on every shoe.

My newest ADs are missing spots all together and have dark spots in some areas.

Unfortunately, I can't compare my Jennys because I sold them already except the PP ones and they don't have much dye to them. But, I can take pics tomorrow and show you how bad the dye job is on my RB ADs. It just comes with the territory. Yours don't look bad at all.

So I promised I would show you some imperfections in the dye on pythons. These are my Red Nabuck Python (not watersnake) ADs. They were brand new when I pulled them out of the box. Literally, had never ever been taken out of the box.

I have circled dark & light spots on the shoes. These are mild.

I can't find the pictures of my Gris Nabuck Python ADs that had entire white spots the size of your pinky finger nail on the shoes. I'll see if I can find them and when I get a chance, I'll photograph my new RB ADs.

But these are just a small example of what you need to expect, these days, if you are going to wear exotics (python & watersnake). It's just the way it is.

Thanks again Nat for sharing your knowledge in caring for exotics. I just finished the second spraying of Meltonian Water & Stain Protector to my HP python batiks, pink powder and jade WS AD, and RB WS bianca. I sprayed the shoes inside and out making sure I covered every part of them. No color change noted. Here are pictures to share.

What's a good leather cleaner for the insoles? I wore my Luxura's last night and they have been sprayed with Meltonian. The insoles are a little dirty from my feet and I tried using a damp cloth to wipe the dirt, but it won't come off and the nude color of the insoles starting rubbing off onto the cloth. I quit rubbing right away. I was finding it odd that the dirt wouldn't just wipe right off and was wondering if maybe the spraying from the Meltonian had anything to do with it. Any advice??

Candy I use Lincoln E-Z clean. It takes that icky dirt out of the insoles. Mine get it too because I wear almost all of my shoes barefooted. It cleans it right up and you don't have to worry about it hurting the insole. Like interacting with the glue or taking off the signature. Plus it has other uses like spot cleaning. I swear by it.

Oh MadameElle, Yeah!!! You did it. I'm so proud of you for taking the leap of faith. You'll be thrilled that you did the first time you get caught in the rain in them.:hugs:

Hi kv-caring for patents is important. Especially since CL uses the same high quality patent that Vivier uses, which is believed to be the of the best in the world. The perfect combination of lacquer and elastin.

I simply rub mine, when I see them getting dull, with a soft cloth and vaseline. Don't slather it on, just massage it and wipe it off good. You'll see it keep it's sheen and it will keep them from scuffing so easily.

Should you get a scuff, now brace yourself, use a tiny bit of nail polish remover on a q-tip and gently rub the scuff off. As soon as you get it off, immediately get the nail polish remover off of the shoe and rub the area with vaseline, like you were conditioning it, and then rub it off and you'll see the once dull area (the nail polish remover reacts with the lacquer and will dull the shine) come right back to life.

Hope that helps.

Nat - you are such a great wealth of information, thanks so much for sharing!
