No, honey, they're fine. Be glad that you don't have spots missing dye all together. When you're dealing with reptile skin and it is dyed with vegetable dye, often, there are spots that the dye doesn't take at all. I have pictures of shoes of mine where there were huge white spots. In fact, my RB ADs have some white spots.
Fortunately, my cobbler uses vegetable dye and can match CLs colors perfectly. He's had to fill in spots for me on more than one occasion.
My red Nabuck python ADs had very very dark spots on them. So dark that they looked dirty but they had obviously never even had the paper lifted up off of them.
So don't worry. The more exotics you get, the more you'll see how inconsistent the dye is.

:hugs:Thank you! I feel much better:DI was worried but I see what you mean. Those red Nabuck python ADs sound amazing...did you ever post pics of them?:graucho:

I was in Pasquales today picking up some non CLs (Diego de Lucca) and I verified that they used Meltonian Waterproof/Stainproof on the WS Bianca ... they did.

I still think I would be too nervous to do this myself though. Who knows I may get braver as the 6 month mark rolls around and I need to do it again. Now to read thru the new posts in this thread!

I use Lincoln E-Z clean. Use a very soft white cloth. Like a baby diaper or baby wash cloth and a little dab will do it. I used it to clean my Youpli and it was fine. Just be very careful not to saturate it.

Don't do this but I've actually used those Tide pens on my satin Chanel bags to get really bad spots off. I got red lipstik on one of my satin Chanel evening bags and I took a huge chance using it but I use it on the satin on the inside of my bags and it works fine so I figured...should be ok. It worked and it it was fine. DO NOT DO IT. I was just telling you.

A product name and directions. Exactly what I needed. Nat, you are an angel.

Off to find a link for this product. Thank you madam.

Nat, if you posted this and I missed it, I'm sorry. :push:

Do you have a recommendation for something to clean exotics with prior to applying the Meltonian, or do you take them to your cobbler to be cleaned?

... or maybe you have not needed to clean..? :thinkin:

Hi Natalie, I sort of have the same question as Jenay. I discovered some sort of stain on my Jennys. I dont know why they are like this because I never wore them and I was really careful when I touched them!

Here is a pic. I am so disappointed...I keep getting less than perfect pairs. I know they will eventually get a little dirty even after I spray them with Meltonian but I would at least like them to have a perfect start!

Help!!
I circled the areas where the stains are.

:urock:NAT!!
glad i read this before jumping the gun and wearing my precious exotics out. I was so nervous about what to use if anything on my batik LP's and jade ws and also to get the go on acid wash, makes me happy inside!:hugs:

Nat - I just want to make sure you used this on your Batiks. I think you told me you did, but I am a little scared to spray them. I guess I am asking for some reassurance that they will be ok to spray. Thank you!

I did and they were perfect and I just sold them and the person that bought them will be thrilled that they don't have to pay to get them done. You'll be fine.;)

Jenay-it depends on how dirty they are. If they are really dirty, then I would have them professionally cleaned. I have had all of mine professionally cleaned at some point. Depending on the wear. But there's a great cleaner/conditioner made by Dyo.
Here is the link to read about it

Here's a place to buy it:

Meltonian makes one too but of all the ones I've used, this is the best and really does a great job conditioning as it cleans.

I just ordered some Meltonian today~

Nat have you tried these on glittered shoes before? And do you spray the bottoms?

There's no need to spray glitter. I don't spray the bottoms because it will make them slippery and these are hard enough to stay upright in.

I bought a pair of Pigalle Plato Nude Glitter for my wedding, I may walk across a grass lawn down the aisle, it won't stain anything? I'm just a little worried. Does that mean that glitter is more durable?

Unfortunately, those are just dye imperfections. The more exotics you buy, the more you'll see it. They didn't used to come that way but they are producing so many now that it's impossible to get an even dye when you use vegetable dye, which is what CL uses, on every shoe.

My newest ADs are missing spots all together and have dark spots in some areas.

Unfortunately, I can't compare my Jennys because I sold them already except the PP ones and they don't have much dye to them. But, I can take pics tomorrow and show you how bad the dye job is on my RB ADs. It just comes with the territory. Yours don't look bad at all.

It means that it would really take a lot for you to get water or stain damage on glitter. The only problem with glitter is the glitter coming off or rubbing off.

I'm not a glitter person but I did have one pair of glitter CLs and it's on there pretty good. Eventually, you may have to take them and have glitter added to spots that become "bald" but you don't need to treat them. With glitter, less is more. The less you put on them, the less chance that the glue will be effected. Just leave them. They'll be fine.

Edited to add
The only thing I remember every doing to glitter shoes was hairspraying them to keep the glitter secure. I don't know that you need to do that but I think I hairsprayed my glitter shoes and it kept the glitter from coming off. It was bigger flakes of glitter though. They were the Oxblood VPs. I bought them to wear as Dorothy for Halloween one year.

Thanks for the feedback~
Should I use the Meltonian on nappa leather?
