-I didn't have to choose a color. Are you sure you are on the right listing for the Meltonian water and stain reppellent? Perhaps you are looking at a different Meltonian product sold by the same seller? HTH

Hi Nat! Love this thread. My exotic shoes have stayed inside during fowl weather....but I'm going to be brave.

Little OT in the CL forum, but....inquiring mind want to know~ For handbags, I know you spray the entire shoe...do you spray the hardware on your bags? Do you Spray the chain handles? Finally, have you sprayed vachetta/barenia/natural leather with this and would you clean with Lincoln or baby wipes before spraying?

I'm looking to purchase it too but what one do I get from nordshoe as it asks what colour you want-does it matter as I wanna do my jade AD, ld python also do you do pony skin with this to? Thx ;)

I read earlier in this thread that yes so I did mine and there was no change in color/ texture but by the second spray, I could tell the Meltonian was beading so I think rain will bounce right off as well

thanks so much for asking this! That was my question too in the DIY thread because my ivory lambskin Chanel has some staining and I wanted to know if I can dye it with Meltonian Nu-Color and, if so, how to go about doing the chain straps... Whether the dye would take on metal or if I could just wipe it off the metal? I took it to Chanel but it turns out that the one here is owned by Saks and if I didn't buy it through them, they won't send it out or even give me the contact details for a store that would.

This is all really for the Chanel thread but I'll answer it here.

First of all NEVER EVER take your Chanel bag to be cleaned anywhere but a free standing Chanel owned boutique. If anything happens to it (and just go to the Chanel thread to read some horror stories that I had to help undo) only the Chanel owned boutiques (Free Standing) will replace the bag at full value. Even if you have to send it to a boutique. Never let Saks, NM, Nordies, any of them repair or clean your bag.

That being said. The Meltonian creme isn't for dying your bag, it is for helping to get scratches off of lambskin and nappa. I use the neutral color because you can use it on any color bag or shoe. It is very, very gentle.

If you want to spray your Lambskin or Caviar bag, please do it holding the can as far away as possible and a light mist twice. I did my beige (nude) Lambskin maxi and it helped keep it from having my dark clothes rub off on to the back of the bag. The Meltonian All Purpose Cleaner & Conditioner (not the Dyo for exotics) for spot cleaning. You can also use it to condition your patents.

Anything major, though, send it to Chanel.

Just wanted to chime in...

I sprayed my beloved RB Jennys last night (twice) with Meltonian and no problems!! The scales and watersnake texture are just as fab as before the spraying. I haven't done any water tests to confirm they are waterproof... I trust they are okay and will be okay.

A huge thank you, to Nat for all of this information!

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer this! I just ordered a whole battery of Meltonian products to augment the spray I bought earlier -- looks like I'm opening up a cobbler shop :)

You should see my house with all of my different bags and shoes. I'm right there with ya. But, it's a heck of a lot cheaper than having the cobbler do it and waaaaaaaaay cheaper than replacing them down the road.:D

Absolutely and it's so awesome that the products you mentioned can be used on all sorts of things! I'm on can #3 of the Meltonian spray and just ordered two more :D

I know you have warned against Apple Guard, but have you ever used Cadillac products? My cobbler carries these and the meltonian creme polish. Can I be lazy and use this or would you strongly advise me ordering the meltonian on my exotic shoes? Cobbler thought the cadillac would work fine and I asked like 20 times if they were sure.

Sorry for the OT chanel question, but TY for answering!!!!

Hi mp4-I've personally never used the Apple Guard products. However, my best friend Julie (julies*shoes) who is a Louboutin VeRo member for Ebay, used it and it discolored a pair of her Roccia python shoes. (You can read back in this thread for her take on it).

I've only ever used the Meltonian on skins. So, for me to comment on other products would be out of turn and inappropriate. I only know that I have used the Meltonian on stark white Opaco python and it not only didn't change the color one bit, but it kept them stark white and waterproof. A bride to be just bought the shoes from me and couldn't believe how perfect they were and how perfect they stayed at the end of her wedding. I was thrilled.

So, in the long way around, I can only recommend what I know and have used and would never be so bold to recommend something that I, personally, haven't risked my own collection to.:smile1:
