This isn't me being snarky. I'm just putting it out there that with the way technology and social media has evolved it isn't far fetched that opposing council will search the internet for info. The buyer has enough personal info from the OP to search effectively.

It might be in the OP's best interest to have this thread deleted.

Regardless I hope things get sorted out appropriately and accurately.

You know, I would have NOT put that money back into my account so that paypal could be reimbursed. Let them take me to court....I would welcome it. BUT they would not have gotten a dime from me once they ruled in buyer's favor. But thats just me.

Dont you wish you could get her on Judge Judy? We would all go and sit in that court room for ya.

If she had done that, Paypal would have sic'd a collections agency on her and destroyed her credit. They also would have taken every dime she made on future sales until the balance was paid. As much as the situation sucks, she did the right thing. Good credit is too valuable to risk.

I absolutely agree.
I truly think I have no chance trying to win anything from this buyer as the evidence for a civil hearing/lawsuit has been "destroyed."

My best shot is suing paypal for ordering destruction of an item that
1. Was proven as authentic by me, the seller.
2. Ordering the buyer to destroy property not belonging to them.
3. Taking the buyer's side in an essential "he said, she said" when I provided more than sufficient documentation of authenticity.

kristie: sounds rational and like you are thinking with a clear head ......however, lawsuits are not cheap....before jumping into one......
i would certainly try speaking tomorrow to someone with some authority at Paypal, and DEMAND an explanation for their behavior? karen

Wow- I really am so sorry OP. Words cannot express how terrible I feel for you. This is just NOT right. Please feel free to PM me if you think I may be able to help.
I agree that you took many steps to protect yourself... the sad thing is the rules are set up to protect the buyer. Have you looked at the email I got from PP last week from the Executive offices in my thread (it is toward the end)? It pretty much states that PP can not be there when the package is packed/ shipped and cannot be there when it is opened. So, it is your word against the buyers to what was inside the box (security tag and all)... and these days the rules are in place to protect the buyer. Take a look at it if you have not read it... it is very interesting.
Good luck and stay strong. Maybe at this price-point you will get some deserved attention!

Future sales? I doubt she would ever sell on Ebay again....with great reason.

Of course good credit is important. However, $20,000 loss is no small price. Plus it is very easy to attach info to your credit report stating the case. ALSO, I believe you can protest your credit rating and it will not show up for 6 months or so...and in that time, she may get a resolve to her problem.

I thought Paypal was at fault here, not Ebay? I know these days sellers think all buyers are scammers until proven otherwise and vice versa...it's unfortunate but I understand why sellers are wary and why buyers are wary...but there are plenty of honest, decent buyers there and honest and decent sellers as well. While I don't think I'd ever sell a $10K item on Ebay (as if I'd ever be lucky enough to own one!) it's still a decent marketplace as long as you are careful.

OP, I sincerely hope you find justice...both the scammer and Paypal should be ashamed of themselves!

I agree. Go get them! The law is on your side here and what they did is not legal. Don't let them get away with this!

Please don't let anyone's prior comments keep you from updating this thread. You are helping so many people by posting this. This situation seems so unreal yet it could have happened whether you were dealing with a no feedback scammer or a "reputable buyer" through Ebay. In fact, in the latter case, we would be less surprised that they sided with the buyer. You did nothing wrong and I know myself and others would love to know how this plays out since it likely won't be the last time we have something like this happen now that scammers know how to fully manipulate the system...

I agree 10000% with abbygirl. I had this happen to me, and I refused to pay them on their bad judgement Yes, credit was affected, but since has been fixed. Nothing lasts forever regarding credit. I disputed it and had it removed.
