Im sharing a special one from my collection. This is the first Vuitton bag I bought about 13 years ago. A Noe GM from 1989.

It’s been through a lot, from over cleaning with magic eraser (causing the an era of the leather to crack), to accidentally snapping the leather cord, getting caught in rain storms, should I go on...

Although it looks a bit rough and ready, I love this bag. One day I might decide to replace the vachetta but at the moment it tells a story of its time.

The canvas is still gorgeous and sits proudly alongside my other bags.

20230421_131953.jpg20230421_131939.jpgHi Peeps,

I fell in love with vintage bags a few months ago and finally managed to get my hands on an LV bordeaux GM at a good price but she arrived with more damage to the canvas. the canvas is warped and bubbly and it "clicks" when i push those parts in- i have never seen anything like it. I do still want to try to keep and fix her as returning is a pain in the butt plus I would lose the money I paid for shipping and tax. I was wondering if any of you has ever seen anything like this and can suggest anything to try and fix her? Photos attached.

The Bordeaux 2 way is a beautiful clutch. I manged to find the pm in pristine condition a few years ago (minus the peeling pocket lining). That said, I don't think there is anything that can be done to yours. It looks like heat damage that caused the swelling/bubbling. I doubt the canvas can return to its original form. Frankly I would return it irrespective of the hassle it might cause.

Use a hair dryer, then follow up with plastic/pvc restorer. She’ll be good as new!

After reading on PurseBlog how LV is going to make monogram more scarce and how poor the quality of new canvas is, I so appreciate my 25-year-old Speedy 25. It’s so tough and lightweight, and I just gave the vachetta a bit of a re-clean…. I love the deep honey color!

I just saw your beautiful speedy 25 and had to get one... so I found one fashionphile. She is a classic .

Production date is 1983. She’s 40 years old and looks absolutely incredible. I own a few vintage LV bags and this one is my favorite. Perfect size for work, has a big front pocket (hello, phone, lol), and it has a longer strap than my other LV bags. It also has very little leather which to me is awesome because it’s less maintenance and I think it’s a huge reason why she looks so good at 40 years old. The interior is lined with a beautiful treated buttery leather and the pipping is treated as well. This means it’s not prone to staining and doesn’t darken unevenly. This was also the cheapest LV bag I own. Don’t be afraid to buy an old bag even if it needs some TLC. I turn 30 in July so this baby is 10 years older than me. I can’t wait to say she’s (yeah, I keep using pronouns for her ) 60 someday.

Edit: after posting this I noticed she has a couple of frays on her strap. Those will be gone this evening. Lol
