I am working on a bucket pm mono right now. just finished with all the sticky junk and now am polishing the brass zippers because they turned green while i was freeing them from the sticky. I will condition and clean everything and then post pics of that one. I have to do to my new saint cloud gm what i did to the one i sold in the picture up there, and i will not be selling it this time. I od agree that the vintage were made better. The brass hardware and all. What's with the same or higher prices but inferior quality. I will not say that i won't buy new ones especially the slg's and probably damier azur just to ensure authenticity, but i do like the quality of the vintage pieces. mynewgm.jpg IMG_2309.JPG

Here's my 19 year old!
i love that. I have to diversify my collection. I have been a classic mono girl but now i am getting the itch to branch out, that is why i got the all vachetta. I am going for a damier azur now and next i will have to get an epi or something that is not brown. I will say, though not vintage, i am curious about the black monogram and yes i forgot the name already.

Prior to early 1980s. No date codes.

Early 1980s. Three or four numbers with the first two numbers representing the year and last number(s) representing the month. E.g. "836" would indicate a manufacturing date of June, 1983.

Early to late 1980s. Three or four numbers followed by two letters with the first two numbers representing the year, the next number(s) representing the month and the last two letters representing the country (see right sidebar for factory location codes). E.g. "874VX" would indicate a manufacturing date of May, 1987 and factory location in France.

Late in the 1980s, the letters representing the factory location came before the three or four numbers representing the manufacturing date.

... Hm only the zipper looks not Original? Really nice bag
The zipper is original. The old zippers were Talon or Eclair.

Original!

Here are my vintage babies and I finally finished cleaning the sticky out of the bucket. I started with goo gone xtreme, ran out of the original. They changed thier formula, bought the new formula, it didnt work, went to nail polish remover which worked like a charm but now having to fabreze the lining and air out to get the smell out. Smell is almost gone, one more fabreze and air out session and it will be ready to carry. Haven't worked on the saint cloud yet, no time but i will get to her. Attachment-1 (3).jpeg

OMG! The LV people don't know what they are talking about! I have a 1990 Sac Weekender made in France. I brought it into my store to see about reglazing the handles. They took pics and emailed someone to check to see if it could be done. The SA calls me back today telling me they can't reglaze that old a vintage but that my bag is called Petite Weekender ( it's the Sac Weekender) and was made by the French Co! Well the French Co only made bags in the USA and my bag is clearly stamped made in France under the date code which he took a pic of! The SA told me he wasn't even born in 1990!! Ugh. I will only buy vintage. The quality of the LV merchandise (the canvas on this bag is sooo thick and I believe the lining is leather!) and the people are not what they were.

This is indeed the Petit Sac Weekend (aka PM). There was also a GM model.

Yes, I stained my vintage Murakami. No more water stains or uneven patina. I waterproof it with melted coconut oil and mink oil then stained it. I LOVE the color of the leather now AND I never have to worry about water, snow etc. Yes, yes people. I'm crazy.
