Hello Everyone, I’m a new member. I’ve been collecting Coach for quite awhile, but never knew this forum existed. I’m so excited to have found you all!
Would someone please show a comp of a City (which I have) and a Convertible Clutch which I think I might like to have if it’s not too big.
Thank you!
I don’t think anyone did this. Still need it? I have both.

Hi to everyone! I am looking at a lulas legacy bag (9952) or a legacy drawstring bag. I’m finding two different numbers ( 9165 and 9166)
Do any of you have these? Do you like the drawstring bags? I’ve never had one. The 9166 looks ginormous, I only found one pic on a manikin. Thank you for your help.

Oh my, in this photo they look to be about the same size. I was thinking the CC was a bit smaller than the City. Since I’m only 5’ tall I try to stay with bags no bigger than my City or I feel they make me look a bit like I’m heading to the airport with luggage.
I like the look of the Convertible Clutch, kind of like a big Pocket Purse. I look forward to the rest of your photos , thanks so much!

Me too, bigger bags swallow me up. The biggest I go is the Court as the leather is so heavy and makes my body ache on long days. If I need anything bigger I use a modern outlet tote. ETA: I only bring essentials most of the time so my casinos are usually fine.

Here they are  Convertible Clutch and City Bag. They are extremely close in size. I have a catalog with both featured a few posts below and you can see the measurements are very close. However, the CC does not have a back slip pocket. The strap mine came with is the shorter variety (37"). I have seen fellow tPFers source great straps so they are easy to swap out on the CC. It you like a longer strap (like me) the City works.

These are old girls! They both have the Made in New York City, USA stamp at the bottom of the creed, which dates them to 1987 at the latest. When I decided in the late summer of '16 to learn a little more about deeply conditioning Coach bags, I figured I would look for a few worn looking 'test' bags. The CC was literally on of the first two bags I picked up at a flea market right after I decided to do this. I found the City shortly after. It was super distressed and I thought it would look so cool.

Well talk about convenient. I have a Fall 1990 catalog and look what's on page 4 and 5. Can that tell you how popular these were back in the day? Keep in mind the CC and City were offered by Coach, over a fairly long period. During that time the strap length varied and in the early years was not adjustable for the CC. It is longer in this catalog than mine is. Also, it may have been adjustable in later years. It is also possible you may see some for sale with a strap that may have been swapped out for another by the prior owner.

Thank you so much Lake Effect, this is perfect, exactly what I needed! I see they’re slightly different in shape and width, but seem to hold pretty much the same amount and nearly the same size. I almost never use the back pocket on any of my bags that have them, so that works. A shorter strap is best for me also.
I have two pre-style number Pocket Purses (black and red) and love that simple style, but they only hold a few items and because of that I don’t carry them very often. I think I’ll be on the lookout for a Convertible Clutch now. Thank you for taking the time to do this for me.
BTW I love the color of your CC, tabac? That is my all time favorite color of the vintage Coach bags. The patina of that color becomes so lovely as it ages!

 The CC is putty, but the flap is a little, aged? Under the flap it shows what I believe is the true putty. It was badly dried out and water stained which is why I got if for $10 at a flea market. It cleaned up better than I could have imagined, but I think the flap is a bit off its true color because of that. The City it tabac.

This is a pretty accurate photo! 28AE4E8B-2DCA-4A66-BD55-8E8BADEDF12C.jpeg
