Me neither! I just received a tooled clutch bag from a seller as a gift with purchase because I was really admiring the work done on it! It's beautiful and I'm sure it's never been conditioned. I am afraid if I dunk it I'll lose the tooling. I can just just clean and condition I suppose. Wdyt? Dunk or no dunk? View attachment 4563749

Do not dunk, Mexican leather, just condition with cpr. Trust me lol.
I agree, don't dunk.

It's been a very long wait but I finally found my vintage BIG RED!! :yahoo:Here she is! My Bancroft brief for $54 shipped! Unfortunately it's missing it's strap but I'll just borrow a strap from another bag. It has a few minor water stains but they don't bother me very much. Hopefully they disappear when I wash it.

You need to do a few modeling shots with your red bags + outfits.

Thanks! I trust you! Is there a story? A before and after pic of what happens when dunked?
Oh, there has to be. I can tell when I hear the voice of experience talking. You don’t hear her telling you to pull out the Obenauf’s either, do ya?

In case anyone is wondering, Coach will send you a replacement hangtag for free. They do not have the older leather hangtags, they offer gold and silver. I asked for brass and they said its the same thing as gold. It took me about 10 weeks and three calls to customer service, but this is what it looks like.
It is engraved with COACH NEW YORK on one side and blank on the other. I don't really like it - too shiny and doesn't really match the brass on vintage bags. Forgive me for saying it, but it feels a little cheap.

I posted this in another thread, but after spending nearly an hour in an outlet store nearby (I was one of the only customers that entire time and the SA was very patient and friendly with me) and purchasing just a couple small items, the SA brought out her entire collection of hangtags for me to sort through and take whatever I liked. I was dumbfounded. We had chatted throughout the visit and I told her that I rehab vintage bags, and asked idly at the checkout counter if they had any older leather hangtags... then she came back with the motherlode of hangtaggery. Nothing vintage that I could see, but acceptable substitutes. I was just stunned and did not want to seem greedy, so selected a few, but she literally had at least 250 all sorted nicely by color and seemed pleased to send some off to someone who appreciated them. So definitely give it a shot next time you're at an outlet store!

I bought this bag off Poshmark. It was originally a Saddle brown color but I got a a spot on her while using leather cleaner. So, I decided to do a dye job to cover up the water spot and I'm mostly pleased with the result. The only thing that bugs me is the streaks from the resolene I applied. I wanted a sealant since I'll be wearing the bag all weekend. Hopefully it will fade with time.

Leather sheen will work too. You just need to buff the leather like crazy with it. I use resolene but only on small parts such as handles and tabs.
Hope that helps!!

My forest green Crosby arrived today!! Aside from a little wrinkling she's in amazing condition. Very soft, well cared for leather with no scratches or wear at all. It has a structured flap similar to the Manor, do you guys think those wrinkles can be ironed out somehow? It feels like the stiffening material itself is creased. Regardless, this bag is incredible! Its everything I love about all of my favorite styles all wrapped up into one gorgeous bag.
