So have folks seen this "Lot of 15 Vintage Coach Purses / Handbags"? Of course the first question is how many are genuine...

I can recognise several styles but it would take one of our experts to be able to determin if that lot was worth the risk, considering GW's track record not a creed photo in sight, no close up's I would not risk my money on that lot.

I'm watching it, but won't bid. There are some desirable styles in the lot, but even if some of them are authentic, there are bound to be some that aren't. There's no way to tell. Then you'd have the hassle of dealing with Goodwill to accept a return on some or all of the bags. Not worth it.

Curious, How does that work with GW if some of the bags are fake? Do you have to return the whole lot? Do they give you a discount and just return the duds?

I don't know how it would work. Ideally the buyer would be able to return the fakes at Goodwill's expense and get their money back for just those bags. But it would be up to the individual Goodwill store's return policy.

Arghhhhh! For the third time in 3 weeks, I lost out on a Goodwill item in the last 30 seconds by less than a dollar. Its making me crazy. I was the winning bid by a comfortable margin on a red Court, and with 23 seconds left someone came in and beat me! I couldn't even react fast enough to place another bid :annoyed:

Have the same problem with ebay recently. Darn snipers!

It can be frustrating! Unfortunately, as you've discovered, there's no such thing as "a comfortable margin." Snipers are out there! As the saying goes, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

I lost out on TWO orange couriers that way! One just a few hours ago. Except I was the one trying to snipe the second one, I just didn't bid high enough or leave myself enough time to up my bid. At least I made the seller an extra $60 or so.

I went thrift store shopping in another part of town that I never go to and found two bags that looked like might be Coach. Alas! They were just replicas of a scooter and a Willis bag. I went to my local Goodwill today and found a companion bag $38 and a briefcase for $100! There are no good deals or scores anymore at my GW.

Now let me understand you (and please, there is no judgement here) , you are bidding on more bags ?? Is it the lure of the rust Courier??

$100?!! At goodwill?? Ugh. I actually heard that goodwill hired someone to do a “refresh” on their stores and they may be starting to price items based on what they see on eBay or Amazon. This is just word of mouth so I’m unsure of how true it is.

Yes I remember at one point some one did say they had one person who looked up items and their going rate. I thought it was random but not really employed to do that as part of the job. I didn't realized it was a storewide thing! :(
