Ah, okay....I thought they were listed.

In the seller's defense, I do understand why a seller won't tell you what she wants. I have b.o. in my own listings and will often get a "what's your lowest" question.

Why would any seller respond to that type of question with an answer? Presumably, the seller wants to do the best (for herself) that she can and to tell a buyer her lowest defeats the purpose of the best offer.

I tell buyers to make an offer and generally, I will counter if it's in the ballpark. And in many cases, I do counter with what I think is acceptable to me and a fair price for the buyer.

What I've found is that in cases of lowballs, my reasonable counters are ignored and I never hear back from the buyer.

If that's the case with the seller you're contacting, she might just be ignoring what she considers to be too low an offer and that you likely wouldn't want to pay what she wants.

It's a bummer but since you've found other sellers with the same item for prices you are willing to pay, just be patient and you'll find one to purchase from.

JMHO.

Thanks:). I do always try to make fair offers, if this was low ball it was unintentional, I had limited bases for comps. At least on eBay I can see what the starting price or BIN price is....for this bag it was a shot in the dark and in the dark, as a buyer, no way was I going in at my top. I could have opened $50 higher in retrospect but my offer was already twice what others sold for from what I found online. Oh well, I get to keep my money and she is stuck storing a bag longer lol.

FYI, it’s clearly painted. I tried to do my best taking the picture behind the glass.

What’s interesting, lots of bags there are pebbled leather recreations of the classic designs. I am wondering if there’s were produced specially for this display.
That's definitely possible. I imagine the designers of the exhibit took certain liberties to create a visually interesting, but not necessarily historically accurate, display.

I promised comparison pics of my stewardess vs my courier to which is the tabac bag...both maybe. Here they are @Catbird9 and @Lake Effect

Both in sun light. Inside the courier is duller, less tan more tree bark color

They're both so beautiful!

I'm going with Tabac for both, just aged and/or conditioned differently.

I second Tabac. Yummy. I’ll take both please!

There were no bright colors pebbled leather versions of City bag or Madison satchel, right? At least I’ve never seen them before.
There were no actual pebbled leather versions but I've had my hands on a few that were lightly pebbled. They were vintage but in new condition. I remember someone saying that the leather would get smoother with use.

There was a vermillion (orange) city bag made around 2010. They made Madisons around that time so there might have been a bright color of that one too.

I figured that it had to be re-dyed - "painted" is even worse! I guess they wanted a splash of color even if it was a color Coach never used.

And then we have sellers living in a dream world - I don't know if this seller has already been mentioned, but check out their "Kelly Green City Bag - Unique!". First of all, it's probably Jade Green, not Kelly Green like the painted one in the archives. While the Jade color may be rare, it's not unique, and it's sure not worth what some people are asking for it just because of the color.

In another listing they're calling what seems to be a Museum Bag from the first Manhattan Collection a "Savannah" which during the year or two during which this bag was made was a name used by Coach ONLY for a bag from the Sheridan line, which this AIN'T. Hard to take someone's high prices seriously when they don't even know what they're selling.

And then there's at least one other seller who's had the same bag(s) listed at the same high prices for at least ten years. One of them is exactly the same style that I bought at least 10 or 11 years ago for $150 less which is when I noticed their listing. In all that time it's never sold and the seller has never dropped the price.

This is the wrong thread for that. Post here: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/authenticate-this-coach-see-first-post-for-format.889527/
Read the first post to see what pictures we need. Definitely will be needing a clear picture of the creed patch inside.

I’ll take a picture on Tuesday. I have a retro vermillion bag that’s lightly pebbled, I think the ones on display are more pebbled than that.

BTW, it’s not archives, there is just a handful of older bags there, and most of them are Ramblers Legacy or City, so not even that old. To see the bags from the 1970s in NYC, go to the flagship store on 5th Avenue.
