This is super helpful. Especially the info about adding a crossbody strap. Why haven’t I thought of that?? Thank you. And I’d love to see pictures.
Sorry for the late reply. Here are a few pics of my 94 light tote with a strap added for extra crossbody support. It's been through the ringer. Washed several times and also it got "catted". Meaning the cat decided the bottom of it made a nice scratcher in the back of the closet. It has character for me. I don't care that it looks kinda beat up.

I missed your post while I was drafting mine.
But yet, I can’t help but feel, with over 1.8 million views on AT and over 600,000 on this vintage thread alone, somebody’s been doing a little research for or with Jed.
And then yeah, as crazy as it would seem for PTB to ignore this forum completely, they may only be monitoring to see if the the buying of current counterfeit bags is discouraged. I still think it is crazy for them not to have someone occasionally check in on this end of social media. But all the corporates care about is $$$$, on current stock.
Oh and edited to add, Now Hy, there are consumers and then there are consumers

If Coach higher-ups or even their marketing people are reading here, it's probably just to collect opinions from frequent buyers about what's popular, what the big spenders are willing to spend their money on, how certain lines or details are being received, that sort of thing. It should have been obvious to anyone reading these forums years ago that the buying of counterfeits is more than just discouraged here, it's considered the equivalent of a mortal sin.

And while they do eventually seem to act on reports of websites that are selling fake Coaches, they lump them all together with the sites they've found just by using web search engines to scan for companies using "Coach" in their name where a violation of Coach's trademark rights are easy to prove. Other companies like Chanel for instance have been a LOT more proactive in not just shutting down websites but in actually PROSECUTING site owners, but I haven't seen any indication of the same level of prosecution from Coach of actual conterfeiting entities.

What Coach DID do about 8 or 10 years ago was hire a law firm to basically threaten and IMO shake down Ebay sellers who may or may not have been selling fakes. Longtime members and Ebay sellers will remember the infamous form letter sent out by a law firm retained by Coach and immortalized along with many other examples of shakedown attempts at the TabberOne pages:
http://www.tabberone.com/Trademarks/HallOfShame/Designers/Coach/docs/CoachDemandLetter.shtml
They even filed a lawsuit against a former Coach employee who had sold a perfectly genuine Coach on Ebay.

The subject was also mentioned here at tPF:

and here (none of the Ebay links work any more)

That's a very different shade of green though, and the very bright lighting used by the seller has washed out the actual color quite a bit. That's a genuine City Bag from 1994 in Bottle Green. The photo taken at Coach is definitely NOT the same color, I would call it Emerald or Kelly Green and wasn't a City Bag color.

ETA - Coach DID have a line of colors called Classic Brights in 1993, but they were mostly available on smaller bags except for the Becket Zip, and the Jade color in the catalog from that line isn't even close to that St Patrick's Day green on the archive bag. The only green listed for the City Bag that year was Bottle Green. There were also some "Island Inspired colors" available in 1995 but apparently only for a few Soho styles.

Thank you for sharing these pictures! I love the happy blue and green colors! So vibrant. And the red! WOW! :faint:
I can’t tell everyone how much I appreciate your kind “thanks” for the photos. It was such a fun trip and I think this group are the only people who can understand the beauty of these bags. I wasn’t able to figure out how to get the video posted so I took a screen shot of one of the cabinets. Each bag that I had pictured has floor to ceiling duplicates on display with them. It was absolutely overwhelming to see. photo in next post...
