Thanks. I keep seeing ones with 31 or 34 inch straps. Guess if I see a bag I like I should get it and maybe get a crossbody length strap elsewhere for when I want the option. The blog I read where I first saw it made it sound like smalls all had the longer strap oh well.

I have a red Courier Pouch and I'm keeping an eye out for a super cheap red Janice or a red Rambler's Legacy so that I can share the crossbody strap with my Courier. It might not be a perfect match but it'll work.

A red Legacy zip would work too, and its longer. I swapped a pony Express strap that was cracked with a Legacy zip and it was a perfect fit just like 5 in longer.:graucho:

The Legacy Zip has a longer strap? Oooh.....I wanted one of those anyway but I always thought they looked like they sat higher on the hip than the Janice or RL. I prefer a lower crossbody position. Thanks!!

It doesn’t seem unfixable in pics but I fear it means the rest of the leather might be dry rotting.

If it is in a high-use area, like a bottom corner, I wouldn't be too worried because those areas tend to wear faster; but as @whateve says a lot depends on the style and the price (and how much work it's likely to require to repair.)

My one and only pre-creed Cashin bag had some serious damage and I had to take it to a cobbler for professional repair, but the bag only cost $2 at the thrift store. The cobbler was able to fix it fairly cheaply and it rehabbed well; but if the bag had been expensive to purchase I might have walked away.
