This beauty arrived today and I LOVE it! Frame bags are very in now and this one is from the 1991 50th anniversary. It is in near perfect condition! The metal is still in good shape and not discolored. I love this one better than the latest release from Coach. I think this double thin strap is much more feminine to go with the bag. Looks like it holds a decent amount, too, and strap is long enough to wear crossbody!

What a beautiful bag [emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️

I love this bag. Does it have a name? Just in case, I decide to hunt for one, lol.
As another posted mentioned, yes, this is a Lindy bag. I think I've heard it referred to as Lindy Swing but not sure of the official name. I pulled it out to find the number on the creed but it is black on black and with the shape of the bag, I can't see it well enough to read it. The first I saw this bag was in the Coach Sightings in the Wild thread - post #2114. Hope this helps. I saw another one on eBay a little bit ago but not in as good condition as the one I found. The hardware on that one seemed pitted and aged and I felt it worth more money to find one in better condition. I like things "new" as I can find I guess when others don't mind dings and pings.

Just to add to that Rule about posters mentioning their own listings:

It's considered self-advertising or shilling, and it doesn't matter where it's done, whether in a Deals thread or even an "Authenticate This ..." thread, linking to someone's own listing is against Forum Rules and not only will those posts be removed, but it can get a member suspended or permanently banned. We've had plenty of posters over the years try to do it in various ways which I'm sure they think are sooooooo clever, but we have ways of finding out that someone's trying to pull a fast one.

Using a different name for their posting ID than what they use for their listings doesn't work, although we just had a case here of someone trying. Or go back into history a little and search these forums for "loukpeach" for some interesting reading. There was also an infamous member who not only posted her own items for authentication but even made a habit of "authenticating" her own listings after setting herself up as an "expert" in the brand she sold the most. She even tried to re-re-register here after being SofaKing Banned at least twice.

A lot depends on the brand. Here in the Coach forum our Rules for authenticating are pretty liberal, and we'll usually even authenticate for sellers as long as they JUST post photos without any listing links, unless they do it repeatedly without contributing anything of interest or value to the forum. Then the authenticators have the right to refuse any further help.

To members who haven't already done so, read the Terms And Rules, and read the posting Rules of any individual forum you're thinking of posting in, especially the various Authentication forums.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program...

Thank you for letting me know. I found the terms and rules and read over those. I do have lots of reading though because I also would like to optimistically read through all of the entire 700+ vintage coach posts and also the rehab thread.

The style number won't be on the creed. In 1991 when these were made, Coach was using random unique serial numbers.

This sweet bag was identified as a Retro Lindy Bag, style #9003, by @Hyacinth:

AUTHENTICATE this COACH!
and
Authenticate This COACH - **see first post for format**

...and it's mentioned in a few posts in the Authentication thread and the ID thread, search for Lindy.

Check out this beast someone gave me last week!
Friday afternoon last week a manager comes by asking me if I would like to leave work early, to which I reply, what’s the catch?? Turns out they need to get paperwork from a client to a contractor, who lives in my neck of the woods. In some ways the owners of my company are not cheap, but in other ways they are. In this instance, using an employee instead of a courier! But I negotiate a few hours pto, used when I want, so I’m good.
The lead counsel of our client has dropped off docs and I go to one of the owners offices to pic them up before I leave. I see the brief bag in his office, it belongs to our client and I can the Coach Creed peeking out and ‘splain how I collect vintage Coach, blah blah , and say , oh this from about 1990 . . . And the client is a super nice guy and is all, yeah, this is back when you went to an outlet and it was all factory seconds and he bought it for $40 then because the combo lock was broke. He has his lap top, cords etc so it looked like he was using it for that. And my boss is watching us and rolling his eyes lol, like are you two finished? I say to him, when you want to sell it let me know, I collect Coach . . .
I turn back to my boss and say, well, you know, what’s my stipend here, driving a bit extra on a Friday (the former owners were notorious for running up a huge courier bill and that got shut down in the new regime!) kinda just to tweak him and in a blink the client empties the brief bag, puts the docs in it and says here, take this for your stipend! At first I said, no that’s okay, and he said no really to take it! And since this guy makes $$$$, I gave him a big smile and said thanks!
And I’m like hey, why not, I can clean this puppy up and use it as a small file cabinet, lol lol. I don’t have the catalog pic at my finger tips, but it was $595 new, in 1990.

Briefbag, style 5420, here's the 1991 catalog pic if you want to save it:

I love it! I've seen this bag in several colors and they are all great! Here is my Retro Lindy 9003 in Golden Yellow. I agree that this bag can hold its own against the recent Coach 1941 Kisslock bags!

I have a salmon orange pink color one and I ruined it! [emoji24] There was a hard spot that I got curious about and pushed on it and cracked the leather! Then I realized it was some sort of support for the thin leather. Now I have a damage that I have no idea is anything can be done. [emoji22]

Ugh that is the worst * hands a tissue *

Personally I prefer the look of Court to Willis. In my experience, I've owned hundreds of vintage Coach bags, authenticated thousands. I hardly ever see a broken strap tab or handle, except on fakes. I had a station bag once with broken stitching on the handle. I can't remember how bad it was but it wasn't too difficult to repair. I'm assuming that the damage you describe on your court happened before you owned it. The items you carry wouldn't exert too much weight and I wouldn't expect them to cause any problems. I can't think of another brand that is more durable than vintage Coach. Once I bought a vintage Gucci that was made in 90s. The strap attachment on one side had completely ripped.

Thank you *so* much for taking the time to let me know that info!
I'm sorry for the delayed reply! (Unusual week at work.)

For the Court bag I have already, I'm assuming I should post about the issue with the leather tabs in the Rehab thread (though don't know whether anything can be done). It's very good to know that this isn't typical wear for this style of bag, so other bags in this style aren't likely to have the same issue.

Thanks again!

P.S. Based on your reply, I'm assuming that the Willis bag wouldn't hold a bottle of water (or a mini bottle of water)? I prefer the Court to the Willis, too! I'd consider a Willis for weekends especially if it fit a water bottle.

Wait! Water bottle fits in a willis! Exhibit A: fit all that in there and still had room.

I'm so sorry to hear that! I don't know if there are any options for repair but could you post a picture?

:D

The Willis is now an option for me. When I go out on weekends, I bring a water bottle. None of my bags fit a water bottle (with the bottle upright). So I carry it. I'd really rather just have it inside a bag.
