Thank you! This is extremely helpful. I also like what I think is the Copley 4414 and Biltmore 4417 styles (sometimes I've seen listed as Grace Kelly bags). I saw the Gracie style but I'm sure it would be much too small for me. I figured since the Bristol, Savoy, and Sutton styles look like they are manufactured similarly (with the same leather, etc) then it would be easier for me to purchase one of those styles first before I decide if I want to splurge on a Kelly bag (which also seem maybe smaller, and even more rare and thus more expensive than some of the other styles so I'm trying to figure out that). I've also noticed that I may have to settle on buying just a bag since a lot of the straps seem to go missing. Any damage I've noticed seems to be on the piping and I'm not sure how easy that is to repair (like with an acrylic paint or something). I'm also really worried of color transfer on styles in lighter colors (Bone, Parchment, Butter, etc).

Are there any other styles similar to the ones I mentioned? These styles are the ones I'm drawn to the most. Also, would anyone know if these styles are easily faked? I know there is an authentication thread (which I have used before). I just hate to ask since I know they get many requests and also some of these purses I have bookmarked are sold on sites that some people have business/scam/ethical concerns over (eg. etsy, Poshmark, etc). I mean some styles I've only seen one available right now. (This is an example of one that I have only seen one of across all websites I'm reviewing including ebay, Bonanza, etsy, Poshmark, Mercari, shopgoodwill - https://www.mercari.com/us/item/m57589043705/?ref=search_results. I'm just curious because for example it seems like I might get stuck with say only one purse currently listed in the one style and one color I really want and it just so happens it is only listed on etsy instead of being listed on other websites.

Hi! I think I've narrowed down my next purchase. I'm not sure if I have the names correct, but I really like the look of the Sutton Satchel 4410, the Bristol 4412, and one that I've just seen listed as Satchel Natural Grain 4921. Does anyone have a catalog picture of the 4412 style? I wasn't sure if it was pictured in the top of the Sutton photo I attached or if that was the Savoy? style. And is it correct to say Coach Madison Sutton Satchel and/or Coach Madison Bristol? Also, is the Natural Grain 4921 part of the Sonoma or Dakota line? I just want to confirm. I really appreciate the sharing of the catalog files because they provide the dimensions and the color options (though I'm not sure if the color options are as listed or if it is possible that they have different colors per year). Can anyone you owns of of these styles share their experience? Lastly, I'm not sure if there is a right or wrong answer here, but I've seen with other satchel styles (like vintage Dooney & Bourke) that it appears some prefer to tie a scarf on the handles (for what I presume is due to either staining and/or wear and tear). Would it be weird to do that with these styles that I mentioned?

I had a Sutton bag that I sold. I had a love/hate relationship with it. It was my rainy day bag because it’s really weatherproof, and can easily fit an umbrella, a rain jacket, and a pair of flats while still looking like a lady’s bag. What I did not like about it is the shape. I have another Coach barrel bag made out of glove tanned leather, and it’s soft and floppy. The Sutton, because it’s so structured and made out of stiffer leather, always felt like a bulge sticking out on my side.

There are other bags in a similar satchel style. For bowler bags, there is Baxter, Pelham (which came in large and small), and a bag from the Sheridan line, the name escapes me, but I am sure someone will chime in. For barrel bags, there are Madison and Broadway.

The Sonoma has soft pebbled leather. The Madisons are made of stiffer leather with a glazed surface. I haven't owned the Sonoma satchel but I have had the Madisons. I didn't keep them because I'm not a satchel person, particularly large satchels. I can't carry large satchels with the long strap. They are just too heavy and stick out too far from my body. Of these, I enjoyed most the Madison Sutton as a hand carry only bag. I find the shape more pleasing to me. I think the others carry more. In a north south bag, I find it harder to find my things.

Keep in mind that if you find any of these without the strap, it is almost impossible to find a replacement strap that matches.

Thank you!! Yes, some of the ones I've seen listed show just the purse and it wasn't until I saw one listed with a mannequin that I realized how large they might be (which is what I was wanting I think). And I'm thinking I would hold on the crock of my arm or just hand carry so maybe it isn't terrible if the strap is missing. Thanks for sharing!

Oh boy. I'm liking these as well. Here I thought I was interested in just 3-4 bags - now it might be possibly more! lol. I do own a Vintage plaza large (that I got authenticated here). I'm undecided about it. I think I rushed to buy (for what I thought was a good price) instead of patiently stocking the websites to find one that was cleaner. I tried to rehab it myself, but I'm not satisfied with the inside unfinished lining (and a few minor problems). I think it needs to be dunked again or something because there is still residue in there that came off on my wallet and compact mirror. It also it a touch too small still which is how I got the idea to look at satchel type of purses. I will google all of these styles. I like to pin the catalog posts on one of my Pinterest boards. I also like to look at listings (even for sold items) just to get a feel for the inside, common wear across listings, and if they have a person or mannequin modeling it. I'm not sure how I will decide. Unfortunately I don't think I will personally know if I prefer the harder Madison fabric to the softer Sonoma or other styles like the Baxter, Pelham etc until I personally own 1 or 2 and can carry for a bit and make my mind up (I just can't get the feel from looking online alone). It is also a test of my patience. Of course I'm tempted to buy what I see (only because there might be 2-3 options posted currently) rather than spending months patiently waiting for the perfect (well like new or excellent used condition) bag to show up. I don't want to miss out, but I want to not rush if waiting gets me a more preferred color or a nicer condition (even if I'm paying more for it - which by then I would be happy to do).

When I'm not sure about a bag, I try to find one that is listed cheap enough that I can turn around and sell it without losing much. Or buy from a seller that takes returns.

If you find the large plaza to be too small, I think you'll feel the same about the Sutton and the Biltmore. The Biltmore is definitely smaller than the plaza. Madisons, Sonomas, Gramercys, Dakotas and Sheridans are all lined. It sounds like you probably would appreciate a bag with lining more than unlined. Madison and Gramercy are the hardest to rehab IMO, especially if they get bent out of shape, so I would try to find those in great condition. Most of the Sheridans and Dakotas are two-tone spectator bags, except for all black or all tan, so if you would prefer a solid color that might be out. For Sheridan, I can recommend the Sheridan Roswell. It is a beautiful bag and the handle drop makes it easy to carry on your arm. It is difficult or impossible to carry some of the top handle bags, like Copley, on your arm.

Thank you!! I do like the Roswell. And I will think about it some more. I've also thought about changing my wallet an an option. It is one of the checkbook sizes and it just makes it very bulky when I add this, cellphone, & my sunglasses case in the plaza, it just about takes up all the space. And irrationally, even though I know the Coach Court and Coach Manor are smaller, I still think those are cute styles. haha. But I will try to focus on the measurements and my size needs. I will also try to take more time to decide to buy since I sort of rushed the plaza. I've never sold anything but that may be the route I need to go (even if I don't make a profit to figure out what I like). I think I read some expression here about buying what makes you sing and I do think one or more than one of these styles is singing to me; I just have to find the right one. I also fell down the Massaccesi rabbit hole (only to learn of his closing). I bought a preloved purse on the Facebook BST group. While I like it - I'm not in love. In particular, there was some transfer on the piping and edges disclosed before I bought and it has gotten worse since in my possession. It is a very soft leather (aquilla matte). So I've felt terrible ever since that I didn't really love my last 2 purchases and am wanting some not prone to color transfer and something that is lined perhaps. So thanks for sharing all of the ones with lining!

Yes, that’s the Sheridan bag that I meant.

Also, while I'm browsing for pre-loved ones I'm interested in, I'll likely come across others that others might be interested in. I'm not sure if these are allowed to be shared (please delete mods if not). And obviously they have to be authenticated. But I came across this posted that claims their bag is new (without tags). I believe it is the Coach Crescent Berkeley Crescent 9014 style.

This beauty arrived today and I LOVE it! Frame bags are very in now and this one is from the 1991 50th anniversary. It is in near perfect condition! The metal is still in good shape and not discolored. I love this one better than the latest release from Coach. I think this double thin strap is much more feminine to go with the bag. Looks like it holds a decent amount, too, and strap is long enough to wear crossbody!

I love this bag. Does it have a name? Just in case, I decide to hunt for one, lol.

Keep in mind that if you find any of these without the strap, it is almost impossible to find a replacement strap that matches.
However, if you are open to alternative styling, as @houseof999 pointed out to me for a Shoulder Purse that was missing a strap, you may be able to use another strap from another bag. For myself, I would not let a missing strap put me off a bag I wanted, if the condition and price were right. And I would post it here for suggestions for sure.
Side note, I ended up getting a smokin deal on a Bancroft Brief with no strap. I decided maybe I would splurge on a custom strap from Etsy or the like. A week later I found the matching strap on eBay while causally looking!

From my experience here, we can list as long as it not our own listing or self advertising. I only discovered recently, all the way down at the bottom of the page here there are FAQ and Terms and Rules that cover a lot of territory.
I even stated a thread for listing bags of questionable rehab-ability. The Forum page has a thread for listing deals, etc.

Happy Saturday to all!

Just to add to that Rule about posters mentioning their own listings:

It's considered self-advertising or shilling, and it doesn't matter where it's done, whether in a Deals thread or even an "Authenticate This ..." thread, linking to someone's own listing is against Forum Rules and not only will those posts be removed, but it can get a member suspended or permanently banned. We've had plenty of posters over the years try to do it in various ways which I'm sure they think are sooooooo clever, but we have ways of finding out that someone's trying to pull a fast one.

Using a different name for their posting ID than what they use for their listings doesn't work, although we just had a case here of someone trying. Or go back into history a little and search these forums for "loukpeach" for some interesting reading. There was also an infamous member who not only posted her own items for authentication but even made a habit of "authenticating" her own listings after setting herself up as an "expert" in the brand she sold the most. She even tried to re-re-register here after being SofaKing Banned at least twice.

A lot depends on the brand. Here in the Coach forum our Rules for authenticating are pretty liberal, and we'll usually even authenticate for sellers as long as they JUST post photos without any listing links, unless they do it repeatedly without contributing anything of interest or value to the forum. Then the authenticators have the right to refuse any further help.

To members who haven't already done so, read the Terms And Rules, and read the posting Rules of any individual forum you're thinking of posting in, especially the various Authentication forums.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program...
