I own a squat coach double kisslock about 5 inches high. It is in such beautiful condition. Before i list it i would like to authenticate. All the others i have seen like this are early coach new york city. Did they remake it ?
This says united states the circle on the hinge says ideal
thanks so much

I have seen remakes of this Bonnie Cashin design. I don't see any problems with it. I've never seen those hinges. I assume the hardware is brass?

It looks like one of the 10 remakes of vintage styles that Coach did in 1991 for their 50th Anniversary. They called it the Retro Collection and were all shown as Limited Editions in Coach's 1991 50th Anniversary catalog.

The style name was Retro Swing Bag and the style number was 9002. The details of the creed stamp match other bags from that collection that I've seen, like the Retro Lindy Bag and Retro Stroll Tote shown below.

Just as a bit of trivia, I think they were the first Coach bags to use an actual sewn-in creed patch instead of just a creed stamp on the inside, but that's just a guess.

do you have a list of all 10?

do you have a list of all 10?

Some of them just used the same name and number as the original bag, and they were all "RETRO ..." and the style name. I don't know if all of them had the sewn-in patches since the Stewardess was one of the styles and I've never seen a Stew with a patch. It was probably just the ones with fabric linings that got the patches.

The remakes of the classic leather styles were listed as available in Black, British Tan, and Mahogany.

Retro...
Stewardess Bag, 9525

Classic Shoulder Bag, 9170

Crescent Bag, 9235

Courier Pouch, 8920

Slim Satchel Compact, 9425

Shoulder Pouch Small (like a Mini Station Bag) 5120

and the Cashin styles, available in Black, Coral Pink, Golden Yellow, and Peacock Blue

Retro -
Lindy Bag, 9003

Swing Bag, 9002

Stroll Tote, 9004

Dinky Shopping Bag, 9001

Thank you. I have the retro stroll tote in peacock blue. It is all leather and just has a normal creed. I think the Lindy is the only lined bag of all of these. They could have lined the Swing Bag since the originals were lined but they chose not to. I wish they had made a retro safari tote.

For the classic styles, weren't they making some of these anyway so they weren't limited editions? I wonder if they had a different price tag indicating they were part of the retro collection.

What is the opinion on authenticity of this bag. Thank You
Welcome to the purse forum. We can't authenticate with just one picture. Read the first post of this thread to see what we need. If the bag is listed on an online selling site with public access, we can authenticate from a link to the listing.

Of the top six, NONE of them are listed in the 1989 Holiday catalog, and according to my notes at least 5 of the 6 had been temporarily discontinued several years before 1991.

The Stewardess was brought back several times after that, not including the recent remakes. The Classic Shoulder Bag disappeared in 1990 and came back in "91 and '97, the Crescent Bag seems to have vanished around 1984. The Courier Pouch and Slim Satchel Compact had also been dropped by the mid 1980s and the Shoulder Pouch Small a few years before that, although the Slim Satchel Compact made another re-appearance in 1993.

So all of them had been "discontinued" for at least a year before they were brought back as Retro. A few have had more lives than a cat.
