Beautiful collection...the ones you just couldn't let go. I know the feeling!

Rehabbing is definitely a stress reliever for me too. Welcome back to the game, and please share pics of your duffle if you have a chance.

Thanks! Here she is. Didn’t have her hang tag, so I stole one from my Rogue. She a big cavernous pit of a bag but I love her to bits.

Looks like "long suede" if I can call it that. Is it a more fluffy suede than say Coach's more recent suede inside the rogues? If you brush it, does it change the nap of the suede/color? Thank you!

I call it hairy. These bags had very hairy suede! Not anything like recent Coach suede.

Hairy suede is a great descriptor. And I agree it’s nothing like the suede in the Rogues. Brushing isn’t really changing the nap but is helping to revive the black color and softening the touch of the suede. I find myself absently petting the bag sometimes. Lol..

Here’s a close up picture. It really is an inside-out bag. The interior is gorgeous thick pebbled leather.

Ikr... I love old Coach suede. I have a recent Coach bag that is suede, I think it's name is Mickie or something, and it's just not at all the same. It's thin, light and not hairy.. and not even like suede IMO. I don't like it at all really. Nothing like Berkeleys or ancient Coach suede. Doesn't even compare.

The original Rambler is pretty hard to find, especially in decent condition. They were (and still are!) well loved. Being roomy, they tended to be loaded up and carried heavy, which puts stress on any bag.

They do come up occasionally on eBay, often without the correct style name or number, so you have to look carefully, or get lucky. Hope you find one!

Here's a 1986 catalog pic:
In the last few months, one was listed just as a vintage Coach bag with a $40 bin. Lol, I am probably the only one here not looking for one. I happened to see it literally just minutes after in was listed. It was gone a few hours later when I went to repost it on the Deals thread.

I'm not looking for one, but if one ended up in my lap, I wouldn't mind. I'd rather have a Ranch bag but I don't need any more bags.

Anyone has any idea how rare the older Rambler (9735) is? And is it roomy? I'm looking for a bigger vintage Coach bag and the 9735 Rambler seems to fit the bill.

I have a one. Mahogany, I believe. I’ve taken it on one trip, sans children. It was quite roomy, in my opinion. Good for carrying the essentials and then some while out picking up trinkets and souvenirs. It is easy to overload is why I stopped carrying it.
Mine is in pristine condition, with some minor fading on the front as an exception. You can only tell when you lift the front flap. It was beautifully rehabbed by the seller, so I’ve never tried to “fix” the fading. I’m assuming the usual method was used, so I don’t think another dunk would help even out the color.
I don’t carry it much because I now prefer the Light Tote 4065 or my one Carry-All Tote 4019 for travel. I tend to go bigger than what I need to carry, as to not over load and stress the straps/handles.
I’ll try to add some pics tomorrow of mine to give you an idea of the size. IMO, it’s a good medium bag for everyday. (Your mileage may vary.)
