Vintage Coach Photos & Chat

I just got this beautiful rambler in the mail yesterday. It is in absolutely amazing condition! I can hardly believe it! Especially since this is my 4th of this style and 2 of the others are riddled with holes in the edging. This is like new by comparison. Anyway,, the thing is, I think it might be navy, not black. But if it is navy it's darker than all my other navy bags. But when I compare it with the same bag in black that I was going to use this to replace, it really doesn't look the same, especially in the suede inside the flap, it's quite blueish. I wonder if I wash it and the water runs blue that will confirm it's navy? That means I don't have to get rid of my hole-covered black one! Later or tomorrow when I get time I will post a picture of it side by side my black beater: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Womens-Vin...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

This exact same thing just happened to me. I won a "black" vintage Chelsea but when I bathed it, the water was blue. It could almost pass for black though.

I've noticed that a lot of the older navy bags are almost black. I had a navy stewardess that was just slightly darker than my black stewardess. It really was almost too close in color.

Yeah.. I also think it's that the black bags fade a bit then the navy seems darker. I feel the new navy one I got has been looked after better or used less so it hasn't lost its color.. but unfortunately after yesterday I was raving about what good condition it is in I did find a hole on it on the edging! It's crazy, but those vintage ramblers seem to be made out of such soft leather they don't keep their shape and get holes/worn on the edging all too easily, more so than most of my other vintage bags.

I agree. I saw one last weekend at a high end resale shop and it could easily pass for black. I like my navy to look dark but also to be able to see the blue. I have always struggled finding a good navy handbag. I love the dooney florentine in navy but they seem hard to find.

They also get worn out because people use these bags to death since they are such a great size.

Co-sign on the above. Thanks for the navy talk. I just got a navy shoulder purse a few weeks ago. Next to my newly conditioned black pocket purse, you can barely tell the difference..
