Vinegar and sunshine might help a lot. I also think it looks really gross. But I bid on it just for fun with a gixen snipe because I thought it would go for a lot and then off I went to cook dinner .... And I am extremely surprised to say I won it. Crap! I mean, yay!
Lol! LMAO! Yay! Congrats!!! Please share when you are done! I am so excited someone here got it!!

Not as high as I thought it might go. I started looking at it more and decided it was too gross to mess with. I can imagine how much it would grow before it got delivered.

I'll let you know just how gross it is when it gets here! Actually I'm less concerned about the active mold than the dark spots. I just don't know if I can do a thing with those but I know I can stop the mold. But you never know... sometimes things aren't what you think they look like. Once I rehabbed a breifcase with the grossest weirdest gunk in its slip pocket. Turns out it just completely melted off and all it's extreme goo and giant water stain all around disappeared instantly with a little soap and warm water. I actually think it was a peppermint that had been half eaten and then stuck in the bag for a couple of years. LOL.

Once I saw a seller list straps separately for bags she had. The straps sold before the purses, then she had trouble selling the purses. Look quickly because at least one of these is fake, so I'll be reporting the listing.

Need some advice. I’m looking for a Carrier or a Musette to carry a laptop and tablet back and forth to work. (Maybe even throw in a couple of pouches and I won’t carry a purse to work if there is room.)
Anyway, I do love this canvas/leather combo. What do you think about the damage? Think it’ll hold up, or will I always worry about stressing the bag further??
TIA
ETA: I live in the Pacific NW. May take the train and will possibly get somewhat wet/damp.

That is beautiful! I would be afraid it would get dirty easily.

So here are my thoughts. I think the combination is much lighter than the leather version and will allow you to carry more without being too heavy. Also if you Scotchgard it, might not have to worry about it getting dirty. But canvas is easily cleanable right? But I find the bag too pricey considering the damage. Not considering rarity as you are looking to fill a need as per function. Also I think the damaged leather will have to be replaced eventually.

Forgive me if I add my two cents, if it's even worth that nowadays...

First off, it is a beautiful bag (IMO), but I''ll second the motion that keeping the twill clean would be a concern. Scotchguard may help, but the potential for a dark scuff that's a challenge to remove is still something to think about.

Second, I don't believe that the condition of the leather warrants serious worries beyond suggesting that perhaps it was allowed to dry beyond recommended limits at some time. Color loss on medium-brown leather binding has been a historic shortcoming which can be addressed if one is experienced. Given the twill body though, the process would require extreme care and patience. As for pricing, I'll just volunteer that I don't believe Nina has ever been accused of setting values at the lower end of the spectrum. Given that it's an uncommon configuration of a style that does not appear on the marketplace all that often, there are no comps that I can find. And Musettes do seem to go through cycles relative to buyer demand. So the adage that something's worth what someone else will pay for it remains valid.

And lastly, please measure your laptop. Even with a bit of bottom sag, a Musette, notably shorter than a Carrier, can accommodate perhaps 9-1/2" in height. So you may find it a bit tight for a laptop in a protective case.
