I think the suede is damaged or dirty. Suede is very hard to rehab.
I agree! I've only tried to rehab Nubuc Sonomas, and have only been able to make them just a hair better. And sometimes worse! Can be very discouraging.
So I don't buy nubuc anymore unless it's in great condition (or if it's a color I can't resist I make sure I can live with whatever spots or wear is there).

She has some splits on the piping in the corners but it's the kind I think I can totally glue back together discreetly! I'm psyched! It's navy btw.
I got a few others too but nothing as cool as this! I never in my wildest dreams imagined I would find a suspender bag at Goodwill.

COOL, lucky you!!! I've never heard of a Coach suspender bag. What year was it made do you think?

I don't know, I'm no expert at these things. I'm guessing early 70s? I wonder what that big spill down the front of it is. I gotta get onto washing this baby! Just when I thought I was done with my rehab pile. I have been washing a few bags a day for the last 3 days. I'm loving my new bags but I haven't figured out what to get rid of to make space for them all.

Actually I found a major fault with it while giving it a bath. :( but for $8 I'm still happy I found it! The zipper is totally disconnected from the flap of the bag. In fact it seems to maybe be missing a whole line of stitching? You can see in the picture I posted of the creed that there are some weird bits of the strap ends exposed. I did think that was weird but couldn't figure out why it looked like that. Anyway, not sure what to do about it. Also here's what's really amateurish: the hole where the female part of the turnlock goes is cut really big! It's very strange. Never seen such a thing.

I now see what you mean about the stitching coming undone for the upper part of the zipper and the bag. I did quite a bit of sewing when I was younger , so pardon me if I come off like a backseat or armchair rehabber. I can't help but wonder if someone who does leather repair could unzip the zipper, go from the *inside* and align the upper portion of the zipper with the edge of that leather with the strap ends and sew it together. I have seen a few of these bags on occasion for sale online. Perhaps there is a member here who has this bag or pics of it and would let you know if it was lined. And from the pics, you or someone who does leather repair could see how it needs to be sewn. Zippers are not a great mystery if you have sewn them. And I had an uncle who work for Talon back in the day. He gave us plastic dress/pant zippers in every color and size.
Even if it was repaired in someway or not , it is a totally great piece of Coach history to have. For $8. Sigh. Navy. Sigh.

Yeah I totally agree. That could be a way to fix it. I wish there were some better leather repairers in my town. When its dry I will explore if it can just be kept as is for the moment and still be used. I am almost tempted to see if my seeing machine would see it if I get the right needle and foot.

What about hand sewing? The holes are already there, if you used heavy duty thread, you might be able to fix it going through the existing holes.
