@colorguardjames That has to be question everyone on this forum must have at some point (for some, and you know who you are, may ask hourly lol ) . I can't answer that. What I do ask myself when I am pondering purchasing a bag is why do I want this bag? How will I use it? Or just oh and ah and buff it with my *buff towel* ? Importantly too is, Can I I live with stains, worn areas , imperfections, etc if they do not improve with rehabbing? And is it really in my budget? Is this impulsive? Is it similar to other bags I have, etc etc. I think you get my point. So in addition to getting other opinions I make sure I subject a prospective purchase to my own list. As *worth the asking price* may mean different things to all of us here. And I did ask for an opinion the othe night. I really really want a Barclay. And a chewed up one is online. And I have been messaging the seller and she is totally open to the make an offer option and asking me to lol. And I questioned if the rehab was really possible. And a someone confirmed what I was already thinking. Enough said, just rambling to my people, lol, after a long day

I'll second @whateve on this one from a purely street-value perspective. $90 for a mid 1970's Duffle Sac (the center seam version with the sewn-on buckle tabs and bound bottom seam. The earliest of this version were pre-creed and identified with the COACH cartouche.) is unquestionably a good price. I'd certainly entertain it if it crossed my path, especially in that saddle color. That said, here are some additional observations:

Repairing the binding stitching is rather simple, so not an issue as long as the leather binding and associated edge of the bag are still pliant. The cut in the leather is a problem that probably cannot be addressed, but it looks minor in the bigger scheme of things. The stains, well some can probably be attended to, but others appear to be perhaps permanent. Also, though not shown, the bead chain hints that the zipper pull may be missing and maybe its ring too. Period replacements for those, if they are missing, can often be found (stole) from abused Slim Satchel or Handled Clutch bags at a reasonable price though exact color matching have be a bit of a challenge (but dyeing a pull tab to match is not a major sin).

I trust that you'll not be offended by my providing my two cents worth.

ETA: For comparison purposes, here's the results of a recent auction for another example of this particular style...

Me too! Soup isn't supposed to be cold either.

Not enough people know what it is unless they have a Russian relative.
Borsht can be served hot or cold. My grandmother served it cold with a steaming boiled potato in it. Sour cream is what makes it pink (magenta, really) rather than deep red. Beets have been used as fabric and leather dye since time immemorial. Rhubarb, too.

I found this Sheridan Shelby my my local Goodwill and it was kindly authenticated here. It's not something I'd normally like, but I was drawn to it! I love the closure and it's in basically mint condition. Am I right that it was made in the early 90's?

Opinions sought...

Does anyone, besides me, think that the bag shown in the following listing a modified 5040 Portfolio Clutch that has had its interior pocket removed and then had the creed stamp excised from the pocket face, trimmed, and resulting "patch" glued onto the suede interior?

I continue to be amazed at some of the extreme modifications some bags underwent back in the 1970s and 80s, many of which were executed quite well.

Look at how beautifully the edges are cut! That looks so professional! Why would anyone do that? I think that if someone bought it and didn't want a pocket, they would just cut out the pocket and forget about the creed.

I know. The shaping of the perimeter of the "patch" was definitely thought about and done quite well by someone possessing the right tools for cutting leather of this thickness. I suspect that the owner wanted to maintain something identifying this as a COACH bag (other than the absent removable hang tag). And for the "patch" to have stayed affixed for this long hints that whoever did it used adhesive that was better than the one COACH employed for its glue-in registration numbers (that are often found missing by now).

I rehabbed one of those. It is a great small tote bag. You may not know what color it is until after you rehab it. Mine was a dramatic transformation.

 No marketing tote for me. I just got it.. or rather didn't get it as the seller sent a completely different bag, not even Coach. I'm requesting a return of course.. but annoyed. I was all ready to rehab it this afternoon!
