It's an early version of the #9385 Shoulder Purse, before they learned that having the kisslock purse under the front flap was problematic (causing noticeable local stretching and accelerated wear to the leather over the kisslock "balls"). We had a red one here for a while, but it, along with two #9385 Shoulder Purses, went to an overseas collector a while back...

Bear in mind that the #9385 Shoulder Purse (and not the #9375 Dinky) was the real basis for the new COACH 1941 Dinky since the original Dinky had neither the removable strap nor interior coin purse features that were part of the #9385 design and carried over into COACH's newest rendition.

And coincidentally, a #9385 was sold this w'end (at, IMO, a very reasonable price)...

Thank you! I did see the 9385 but I didn't want it due the stamped initials. I am guessing that might be a reason it didn't sell for a higher price or not too many people discovered it.

Btw, I had to chuckle seeing an eloquent person like you mention "balls". (Yes, I'm easily amused). .[emoji4]

I'm always pleased to amuse. And you're probably right about potential buyers being put off by someone else's monograms, but given that it was a dark bag, that condition was easily remediable.

As for the bump in the flap of that red #9385 precursor caused by the kisslock, I can still recall what a challenge it was to shrink the leather to smooth out the flap. That and also having to restore life to the suede underside that had been rubbed flat. After investing the time, I could appreciate the wisdom of moving the purse element from under the flap to the back wall of the inside compartment. Smart design change.

Congratulations to @houseof999 on landing this. Quite the steal at 2AM eastern time. I think that this falls in the "theft" category. I'm again very envious...
