A trip down memory lane: I found this photo in a 2013 New York Times obituary for Lillian Cahn, one of the founders of Coach.

Check out the bags in the Paris shop window (and on her shoulder!)
and now 50 years later, Paris is going crazy. if i understand this link properly, Coach Paris will be taking gorgeous vintage Coach bags and attaching ugly snoopy pictures and other ugliness on them. i cant believe Coach bought into the travesty of destroying thousands of vintage bags. or am i missing something here? How cool is that?

please tell me that they are using faux-vintage, and not real vintage!!!
well "restored" vintage, means taking genuine vintage bags, washing and conditioning them, and then ruining them with decals. one step removed from what we see folks do on etsy, painting vintage coach bags.Sounds like they're using restored vintage bags.
yes, we know who's been busily buying up vintage and stockpiling for Coach. and i don't mind that, if they were going to do something tasteful with them. but this is just so unbelievably tacky!!! i wonder why they didnt use tasteful graphics, like the ones they have been using for the very successful Snoopy ventures. that would make sense. but these ugly decals??? really??? in Paris no less?? i guess i just love vintage coach too much to appreciate this marketing ploy!Someone I know who works at Coach told me 6 to 8 months ago that Coach had purchased aprox 2000 Coach bags from a collector in the Midwest. Stuart was going to "bling and embelish" these bags and sell them as obviously one of a kinds....I wonder if this is a portion of those bags? Coach wanted them out in time for their anniversary.

Who has been the buyer? Just curious. I hope they don't use all those 2000 bags on this and Snoopy. I hope to see something much more unique!!
there have been several very active buyers , no names named. we knew they were planning for the anniversary extravaganza, but i had really hoped for something fun and tasteful, not gaudy and tacky. its a travesty to destroy these vintage bags (to my mind at least)
heck, now i guess we should go and deface our vintage bags in the name of style and progress!!![]()
I will agree if they look like the ones in the article, that will be very disappointing. I thought it would be quite fun to see a vintage bag restored with a little bling or some cute embellishments.
