I know who one of them is. She was buying every slim satchel in sight as long as it was around $75 or below. I was wondering if it was for resale or was she going to teach a rehabbing class or maybe there is some other secret purpose.

Who are the other 5, and are they working together?

One of our own have been driving up prices on Madison; I won't mention names. :graucho:
LOL! I am waiting for that someone's Madison collection to be complete so I will have the chance to bid on one! :p

No Madisons ! Only NYC-USA bags like Dinkys, Pocket, conv clutches, stewardess, duffel sac, slim BRIEF & slim compact satchel..For a few months, sellers thought they had a gold mine with their beat up dinkys!! But, Hey~ they were getting 70 bucks for a bag that would normally sell for 25 ! Look at the prices~they are finally beginning to normalize!

Hi, like to show off my 2 drawstring bags. The British Tan is a Delancy Drawstring 4122, early 90's. It waspart of the Lightweight Collection and as large as it is, 12 1/2 × 10 × 6 1/2 it is surprisingly light. Chose to not dunk it as had some tiny inkmarks on the pocket and was in wonderful condition other than someone put an extra hole in the strap. The other is a Marietta Drawstring Sheridan 4219 same timeframe in white and tan with an atempt to add holes in the strap the only flaw. I love them both♡
Lovely!

Just came across this Penelope that looks REMARKABLY like the bag supposedly made in the 40s. Interesting, eh?

I just now realized I put the wrong link. Why didn't someone tell me? Here's the correct link.

I also just noticed the seller of the bag made in the 40s removed any reference of when it was made or to Bonnie Cashin. LOL

:winkiss:
Your Tomato Sonoma is my holy Grail. I was on vacation when that was listed so you are lucky you weren't in a fight over ownership! I don't always use the straps either but it's always a good idea to hang onto them just in case you decide to put them up for adoption. The hang tags too. I also keep the tags of new purses in the zippered interior pocket.

I have a black Madison Copley, that was NWOT which I got it about two years ago. I paid 60.00 bucks for it so I feel very, very lucky to have it. It is one of the most timeless pieces, imo. I have about 6 or 7 Italian made Madisons. I don't have any Gracies; they are as cute as all get out but not practical for me; I like to use my purses. I am one of those people who don't have "good" towels, etc. I use what I own. Although, I do have this absolutely gorgeous pale green, pearlized leather Coach purse that I like to look at; I've never used it though.;)

I hate to tell you this, but the Sonoma was listed over a year. I know because I posted something about it on here in March 2014. I found the post during my research/hem hawing period. Sorry! :shame:

And I got the slim satchel and Sonoma confused. Like I said earlier, I've been sick (thought it was a cold but it's bronchitis with possible early pneumonia) and my mind hasn't been clear. I know the Sonoma has a strap obviously cos I just got one and it had a strap. I meant I didn't know the slim satchel had a strap. It probably doesn't, cos I've never seen a listing of one with a strap. Ugh. Sorry. Just overlook me til I get over this garbage. :yucky:

That's beautiful. It is Bonnie Cashin inspired, but it isn't from the 70s as the seller claims. It was made in 2001. It isn't vintage so it is against etsy rules to list.
If authentic, this is a gorgeous British Tan NWT cosmetic case from 1995; $49.99 + $5.75 shipping

Ooh, that's nice! I think it is a great price for a brand new one! It was called a chunky case.

The Penelope is gorgeous, but my point was ... it looks remarkably similar to the one on eBay claiming to be made between the 40s and 60s by Bonnie Cashin and the asking price was $1500. The seller's now reduced the price to $1250 in addition to removing the Bonnie Cashin references and production era. Ha! She's delusional. But -- aside from the Penelope having brass rings at the bottom of the straps -- it looks just like the other one! Could it actually be from the metal tag Coach era (and the seller got her dates all wrong) and the Penelope was a remake of that?

The Penelope was definitely inspired by the $1500 bag. But for a collector, having a copy isn't exciting. They are willing to pay more for something that is truly vintage and was designed by Bonnie Cashin. The $1500 bag is truly a Bonnie Cashin bag from the 1960s. The seller was just wrong claiming it was from the 40s and that there wasn't another one like it. It isn't worth as much as those with the Mexican stripe lining but worth more than the Penelope.

ETA: I think some collectors would be willing to spend $500 for that bag.

For example: this seller sold this bag, which is a remake of a Bonnie Cashin, for $179: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Rare-Vintage-Bonnie-Cashin-Pink-Body-Bag-1960s-Re-Make-9074-/221754701629?nma=true&si=5GQ51%252FR97HgAddtsvq7qp8Q%252FBfc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
If I remember correctly, she sold an original Bonnie Cashin of the same style to the Coach archives for $1000.
