I saw a very helpful conversation a few pages back about the best selling platforms for US resellers. I was wondering if there are any Canadians on this thread who have any tips on the best platforms for sellers in Canada? I've done some casual selling of various items on Kijiji in person, but I was thinking of trying the whole vintage Coach rehabbing and reselling experience and don't know where to begin.

I have a comfort zone with Kijiji, but there are only three 80s/90s vintage Coach items on there in a sea of 27 pages of newer Coach and the vintage full-leather bags haven't sold in a couple of weeks. I think they've had about 25 views each. I was thinking of seeing how long they take to sell, how much the prices may decrease, and if all goes well, buy a project bag to rehab to even see if it works out well!

I've been wanting to try this for a couple of years, and have watched many videos and read threads about the rehabbing process. I currently have some health problems that prevent me from working these past few years, so I thought it might be a project I enjoy that can also bring in some spending money.

I wonder why people are bidding? How are they going to replace it? I've seen people carry this style with the belt open. I think it only looks cute when it is closed.

I wonder how they got it out. I just tried with mine and the ends are too wide to fit through the loops.
That’s a good point about getting it out; well, I have seen extremely creative people here do interesting things so it would not surprise me if someone MacGuyver’ed something. Or maybe it is a project bag destined to sit for a bit *avoids looking at a few items in my pile*!

Thank you! I definitely went behind the counter and snatched it asking about the pricing as it hadn’t been tagged yet 😆
Omg we could be friends based on that alone! There are two large thrift stores by me and when
I have been there during busy times, the staff brings stuff out in shopping carts. I had to work really hard not to grab willy nilly  when I spotted bags there but did politely wait and ask to take a few bags (one store actually has signage to not go through the cart/rack while employees are working) and I scored a few nice bags that way. I have come to see a decent amount of Coach probably comes through these stores but probably gets snapped up immediately!!!

Do you guys know if the Janice Legacy 9950 was ever made in the USA in a blue (is it called glacier)? I think it looks great in that colour, or red, but from my research it looks like if I want made in USA, it may have to be red out of those two options. Correct?
Sometimes late to the conversation but weekends let me catch up here, now that I am back. Since you were talking about the Janice, I didn’t know if you might want to check out the Berkeley Zip, which is essentially a sueded version of the Janice. I think the red and russet are particularly sharp. I have the russet am refraining from the red as I have several reds already.

I have a Janice in a denim blue shade, with white top stitching that I particularly like. I picked up one in black, but haven’t cleaned it up yet. They are made in China with thinner leather. While not the thicker, made in USA leather, the quality pleasantly surprised me. I am biased for leather pre-China, especially USA, but for less than $30 I would not pass up made in China in good condition.

Thank you for sharing, @Lake Effect! I have heard of the Berkeley version, it is pretty sharp as you say. Lovely bag
Good to know about the quality of the Chinese-made bags. I have this thing about buying American-made for an American heritage company, likewise seeking out made in France rather than Italy for when I bought my Chanel. Or buying made in China if it‘s a Chinese company, for that matter! It‘s probably a nitpicky preference, I know ha ha. But I will keep it in mind

I don’t think it is nitpicky at all  ! I know I started collecting my vintage Coach with some very strong opinions and preferences. Some have changed, some have not.
I started my deep dive into vintage Coach late in 2016. I found tPF and after lurking became a member in early 2017. I had zero interest in non-vintage Coach when I started and was especially riveted by Made in NYC bags. I started to learn more about Coach in general in addition to vintage bags/restoring. I am still drawn to Made in NYC bags (I now believe there are equal numbers of Willis’s and Made in NYC Dinky’s circulating out there!). What has fascinated me is how my preferences are changing, evolving.
I still love a bag stamped MADE IN NEW YORK CITY, U.S.A.

I love the look of the NYC creeds. They are almost never faded to where you can't read them, despite their age.

The quality of leather used in China didn't decline until around 2004-2005. I know I've had a 2001 classic (now vintage!) China bag with great leather. Possibly even a 2003.

Do you recall if it felt like original weight USA leather, the leather from that classic bag from China?

Yeah those NYC Creeds, bags …

Lol! I haunt the same spots so the staff knows me. They let me go behind the counter too! I’m the worst/best but very mindful customer. 😆
