PM and Mercari listings don't expire and it doesn't cost anything to list. I don't think there are any limits. Encountering sellers that haven't been active is common. I don't know if the site does anything to these sellers after orders have to be cancelled. They are good sites for new sellers because people are nearly as likely to buy from a new seller as from an established seller.

Ebay now automatically renews listings so sellers there could also be inactive. But Ebay has limits on how many you can list before you have to pay and also has restrictions on new sellers, especially if they are selling in a category where there could be fraud. And Ebay charges fees on the sale, whether or not the seller ships, unless there is a good reason for the cancellation.

My peeve is when sellers have things listed on multiple sites and neglect to remove them from the other sites when they sell.
That’s the main thing about PM that drives me crazy! They also don’t include the year on the listings, or comments on the item. I sort whatever I’m looking for by “recently dropped”, that way I know what’s actually active.

But good to know about eBay doing the same thing now. 🤦🏻‍♀️

A couple of questions for you all... I've been reading through old posts on this thread to try to determine the answer but realized it would take many moons of reading

When did vintage Coach prices skyrocket so much? I bought my fantastic condition Casino two years ago on the 'Bay and it was $75 (no one else even bid on the auction). I am not super knowledgeable about Coach but I saw a beautiful periwinkle Winnie on Etsy for over $3K. That's almost vintage Chanel prices. I think vintage Coach is definitely worth higher prices and that one is perhaps a unicorn, but wow.

I realize there are still deals to be had, but several of the other ones I'm liking are in the $400-800 range which is still quite higher than I remember two years ago. I guess it's not immune to the wicked price increases we're seeing almost everywhere. Interestingly though for comparison, I'm in the process of commissioning a custom tote bag that I designed (Birkin-esque), using full-grain vegetable tanned leather and all brass hardware, done by a local artisan. They are estimating it will cost $300.

Also and unrelated, did Coach produce a similar style to the Legacy Zip 9966 that is smaller and lacks the metal feet? I like the bag but not super keen on the feet for this style.

Thanks everyone, it's fun to have a forum to discuss these things :flowers:
I’m only 😅 laughing because the Winnie has been a topic of discussion here. We’ve seen ShopGoodwill bids go for over $1k. Anyone remember the vintage coach bag on eBay, from a few months, that was covered in mold?! I think that went for $250-300. 🥴

Do you guys know if the Janice Legacy 9950 was ever made in the USA in a blue (is it called glacier)? I think it looks great in that colour, or red, but from my research it looks like if I want made in USA, it may have to be red out of those two options. Correct?

Glacier is a 1997 color so it could be made in the US, but I don't know if they made Janice in it. Most interesting blues I've seen in Janice were made 2004/2005 in Costa Rica or China.

Janice is a very cute bag in person. You can't see the scale in photos so it doesn't look as cute.

More questions. Do seller listings on PM and Mercari auto renew? What is the listing fee for new and/or relisted items? The reason I'm asking is that I've noticed some sellers haven't been active in years (!?) but yet still have items for sale. Several months ago I had an item authenticated in the thread, but never had any response from the seller (don't remember if it was PM or Mercari) so I cancelled my order when enough time had lapsed. Why have listings if you won't mail when they sell? Does either website have any "inactivity" guidelines for sellers?
Sorry so many questions - just trying to see what I could be getting myself into before I jump in.
Thank you!
If you scroll to the bottom of the listing on poshmark, it will state the last time that seller has used the site. Thats a good way to weed out inactive listings quickly! I also wish that poshmark would delete inactive sellers and listings!

Janice is one of my favorite bags! Fits my stuff just right, is the right scale for my body, and looks sleek and streamlined. I have 3, gave DD the black with nickel hardware- such an elegant bag!

At the bottom of the listing, in the seller info section it states the last time the seller was active on the site. I always look at that when I find a listing I am interested in. I keep my search parameters broad, and dig through. Most of my best bargains have been poorly listed items, poorly photographed items, and older listings from active sellers.

I can’t tell you how many times I see vintage Coach bags simply listed as “Coach bag” or “Vintage Coach Bag” no style number, minimal description.

I sort by color, or type of bag and price point to make it a bit more manageable.

Read the salearea guide a couple dozen times, and comb through the catalogs posted in the reference section so you can spot fakes

There- now you all have my secrets for finding bargains on Poshmark 😁😁

Picked up a vintage Coach clutch for $20. Has Made in NYC on the bottom of the creed. It was made as a clutch. No place to attach straps. Small Kisslock compartment inside as well as a zippered pocket. I’ve been able to find very little about this piece/model. Curious if anyone recognizes the style or knows anything about it. TIA!

It's #9720 classic clutch. The catalog picture is from Fall 1985.

You got it! And "Dave Edwards" is not his real name either. Nor is he just the Moderator of those Facebook Groups, he's the owner (I think he owns and "moderates" at least 2 or 3 more). He's also been claiming to be "dying" for the last year or more to garner sympathy and push back against disgruntled Group members who objected to his management. Several have already left and started their own groups. He loves to have discussions with himself using his actual legal name because that's the one person who will always agree with him and tell him how wonderful he is.

He's been Sofa King Banned from tPF at least 4 times under different IDs and counting and is undoubtedly lurking here under at least 1 other ID so be very careful what you say or reveal here, and of course he has snoops who are active members of tPF. He probably has more fake or alternate IDs than Beyonce has Grammy Awards. I do NOT recommend getting involved with people like that. JMO, of course. Needless to say, he doesn't like me very much. :graucho: :crybaby:

(BTW, The first mention I heard that he himself made of his impending "death" goes back to early April 2022 and came through a third party, so I'm sure he would have mentioned it even earlier than that. I wonder if his sugars have ever done the math?).
He's a huge bully and "cult leader'!! He picks out people to condemn with his "I do not recommend this seller" nonsense while his own Etsy shop has multiple bad reviews from people who say the bags he sold them stink of cigarettes!!

He is such a keyboard coward! He even has his cult members "like" his comments on his fake name on the eBay fashion forums! His fake profile on there is Sandimas.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM AS A SELLER! Or decent human being in any way, shape, or form!

I was lucky enough to get my Winnie for $125 US.
It's a permanent bag in my collection as I know how hard it would be to find another.
I did pass on a Periwinkle Winnie for $325US and white Hasp for the same amount. Just toomuch when you convert yo New Zealand dollars.

I used to be able to get a vintage Coach into New Zealand for under $140NZ including shipping taxes.
Now I can't buy one for less than $240...shipping in anything between $80 to $100 Nz.

I don't buy from ebay anymore...but I still look and dream.
