So excited with this one! I've been scouring the 'net for a courier bag... I shared my story elsewhere, I won a casino jackpot and ear-marked some of that "found money" for buying the vintage Coach bags of my dreams. This is one. I found it selling for $175. This is Navy blue, pre-creed. I feel like I got a steal! Sharing the beauty of this baby, I think it's an 8920:

When I found it, I was like, wow! I've been pricing, and most are around $300 - $600. This person knew what they had, and still was selling it for $175. I didn't bargain, I jumped on it! I was so nervous that it wasn't really going to show up. Kept checking the shipping status, and it seemed to sit for days before shipping, at some "access point" for UPS. However, yesterday, on my doorstep, this beautiful bag.

I'm glad it found a good home.

I've recently been on the hunt for a vintage Coach bag for work. Finally found this beauty and pulled the trigger! It shipped today. Has anyone else had a bag get shipped to an authenticator before it got shipped to you? If so, I'd be curious to hear about your experience. I'm nervous!

I haven't but once I sold something on Posh that got shipped to the authenticator. It worked out fine. I've heard that on ebay the buyer can't complain about condition if it goes to the authenticator first. Basically they aren't allowed to return for any reason unless the seller accepts returns.

Is one allowed to know who the authenticator is, before it is shipped there ? Given the track record of the companies used by Goodwill, and I'm sure others, I would be hesitant accepting a bag, just because it was authenticated by them. Also is the buyer requesting such authentication ?

I don't believe you know who the authenticator is. Usually isn't the buyer requesting authentication; it's a requirement of the site for bags over a certain $ amount. I was nervous about the bag I sent to Poshmark for authentication even though I had bought it from a Coach store. I would be even more nervous with a vintage bag because I would assume the authenticators wouldn't have the proper training. I believe on Vestiaire Collective, the buyer has the option to choose direct ship or have it shipped to the authenticator.

I would consider having an independent authentication, such as is offered on this forum, even if I had a bag go through one of these authentications.

So, I've obtained this (seems to be) rare bag. Green "marble bag." The rehab is in process. :) I can't get over how cute this style is. It might be the cutest shape Coach bag I've ever seen. I like everything about it, top to bottom and side to side. It's dark green, but it looks almost black in these photos, because it's still damp from its bath.

In my case, I posted the bag for authentication on this forum before purchasing. I didn't have the option regarding the bag being shipped to the Poshmark authenticator - like @whateve mentioned, it's a Poshmark requirement. It's still with PM being authenticated, so now I'm antsy to receive it.
