I'm curious.... if you have a vintage bag without a hangtag do you borrow one from another bag or wear it without? Add a charm instead? Is there a secret place to order inexpensive replacements?
I dont worry if it doesnt have a hangtag at all. I did think of buying replacements once but for the cost of one, I would be better putting the money towards a bag.
Do they even give out hangtags now?...I thought someone said that Coach no onger does this.

FYI, I ordered hang tags from Coach about four years, and they never arrived. I called a second time and requested and still the hangtags never arrived.

I've bought nasty time to retire bags that had one (which is cheaper than the actual hangtag) in a similar color or style/era and then dyed the hangtag. Sometimes the hangtag matches. Eh.. it's crap shoot.

The bags I use most from day to day are vintage duffle sacs, all with brass hardware. I have a collection of brass hangtags that I use with the bags that don't have their leather tags. I can be a bit OCD about things like hangtags, but using the brass doesn't bother me at all and they looks great with the leather bags. Brass hangtags are available on the online selling platforms in various sizes. Be sure to measure to know exactly what size you need and always have them authenticated here.

Years ago, you could go into a Coach store or outlet store for hangtags. They would bring out a giant box full of hangtags, supposedly that had fallen off things in the store, and you could go through it and pick some to take home for free.

Yep! When I bought my chalk dinky in summer 2020, the hangtag somehow got lost between leaving and getting lunch etc. I went back and they brought me a replacement.

It’s never been a big deal to me if mine had tags or not but today the rage is decorating bags with charms and fobs. Possibilities are endless whether you buy them or get creative. A friend is making bag charms using her mother’s old costume jewelry. My mom has made many by recycling old jewelry too.

I have small totes that some have hang tags and some do not. I used some tea rose charms made by @LunaSilver for the ones with no tags. I actually like them better!

Coach stores also can make custom tags in lots of colors for a reasonable cost. I think small tags are $8 and large for something like $13. They sent me one recently as a gift and it was very nice. I plan to buy some for a few friend gifts thinking it would be fun to gift a bag with a custom hangtag. The tags are nice enough to give on their own. Here are photos my SA sent me of tags and options. You can add symbols and letters. The gold looks fabulous on the black tags.
